Super Junior-K.R.Y. will finally return and is preparing to kick off with their first-ever album in Korea!
According to Exports News, Super Junior-K.R.Y. is currently planning to release its first album in Korea in June. In addition to this, the media outlet also confirmed the finalized cover jacket shoot of the sub-unit.
Consisting of Super Junior members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung, Super Junior-K.R.Y., the group's ballad unit named according to the first letter of their names, is the first one to introduce unit systems to the local music scene. Also, their name is a pun of the English word "cry," which is perfect for defining the emotions brought by their ballad songs.
Debuting in 2006, the sub-unit captured the fans and interest with their majestic voice all combined together, which draws more feels to the 2006 Korean drama "Hyena" where they first sang their two original soundtracks, "The Night Chicago Died" and "The One I love."
As their songs eventually drew attention, they made their debut as a sub-unit through Music Bank, with "The One I Love," and since then, they are often seen and in-demand, singing OSTs for several Korean dramas.
The trio rose to popularity, and aside from joining Super Junior's concerts and promotions, they also held their first concert in Asia in 2010-2011, meeting their fans and supporters around Korea, China, and Japan, particularly in Seoul, Nanjing, Taipei, Fukuoka, and Kobe. SM artists also joined them as special guests, including their Super Junior co-members Sungmin, Donghae, and Heechul, as well as labelmates SHINee and TRAX.
Their popularity in Japan is exceptional, leading them to have their special Winter Tour In Japan in 2012, and on the following year, they released their first album in Japan, titled "Promise You," selling more than 50,000 copies on their first week sales.
However, in May 2013, Yesung had to enter his military service, making the sub-unit group's activities to be put on hold. In 2015, Yesung was discharged, and K.R.Y. then released their second album in Japan, "Join Hands."
In 2016 and 2017, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun entered the military respectively, that was why the group experienced hiatus once again.
During Super Junior's performance in Jeddah in 2019, Super Junior-K.R.Y. held their comeback after the two members were discharged, but still, they haven't released any albums in Korea, raising fans' anticipation for their comeback 14 years after their debut.
Moreover, Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung have all returned to their more mature form after completing their mandatory military service, drawing keen attention to what activities they will engage in as a united Super Junior-K.R.Y.
On the other hand, Super Junior is currently preparing for their special show, "SJ Returns" Season 4, which is currently drawing fans' interest as well. The first teaser was released on May 1.
"SJ Returns 4" will kick off on May 18.
