VIPs, fans of the legendary group BIGBANG, surely started the month of May with smiles on their faces as the members dropped several updates about their individual activities.
It was two months ago when the four members of the K-pop group, G-Dragon, Taeyang, TOP and Daesung, signed a contract renewal agreement with YG Entertainment, which means that they will be continuing as a four-member group.
As the agency confirmed that they are preparing something for the group, fans are waiting for their return since then. Supposedly, BIGBANG is set to have their major comeback stage through the Coachella Festival, one of the largest music and arts events in the US. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was eventually postponed. It's claimed to be moved to October this year, though there's no official statement from the organizers.
Since then, fans seldom got updates from the BIGBANG members. But at the start of May, BIGBANG members' updates came pouring out, making fans more excited and anticipate their future works.
In this regard, here are the significant updates of the BIGBANG members.
1. G-Dragon
On May 1, fans and netizens were thrilled to see the leader of the group, along with his labelmates BLACKPINK members, during Jennie's Instagram live broadcast, unboxing her personalized "Jentle Home," coming from her new collaboration with the luxury eyewear brand Gentle Monster. G-Dragon then tried out several glasses from the brand and was also praised for having a good relationship with his juniors.
In addition to this, he was also said to have paved the way for K-pop idols promoting in China after being appointed as the sole ambassador for a Chinese brand's product, "Chapai," a tea drink. After the announcement of the brand about G-Dragon being their new endorser, G-Dragon proved his influence as an icon, being the first K-pop artist to sign with a Chinese company since 2016, wherein a virtual K-pop ban started in China.
Due to his popularity, he also ruled over four titles on Weibo with just a single post, topping the ranking for the total point list, interaction ranking, social influence list, and topic readers list.
2. T.O.P
In February, T.O.P concerned his fans after he claimed in his live broadcast that he wouldn't promote in Korea at all, and days after, he deleted all of his posts on his Instagram account. However, after a month, T.O.P came back on the social platform. Since then, he occasionally posts updates about himself. In May, he blessed his fans with his selfie. It was a bit blurry, but fans were delighted to see him.
Moreover, on May 10, he uploaded a boomerang photo and his picture capturing his visuals. He also uploaded a photo featuring an artwork.
3. Taeyang
On May 11, BIGBANG's Taeyang will be featured in his first documentary! According to YG Entertainment, Taeyang would be having documentation titled "WHITE NIGHT," which is composed of eight episodes in total.
The episodes will be airing for four weeks, starting from May 18 in celebration of Taeyang's birthday. The videos will be available every Monday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. KST on Taeyang and BIGBANG's official YouTube channel.
The documentary is said to reveal his 215 days record, starting from album preparation to his enlistment, unfolding the real identity of the idol.
While Daesung doesn't have any updates still, VIPs remain patiently waiting and are happy for the three members' updates for now. They keep on holding on until they meet BIGBANG on stage once again.
