This is how every member of the girl band finally became members of Red Velvet!

IRENE

When she was young, Irene dreamed of being a news anchor. She was also a speaker for her school broadcasting while she was in fifth grade.

In her days in school, Irene performed at a school talent show at TVXQ's "Rising Sun," and she always loved and enjoyed listening and dancing to music.

When Irene was in her first year of secondary school, she accompanied her friend to an audition, and she actually performed an audition. When she is unable to pass her audition, she came to the realization that she really desired to do this.

She was afterward on her way to eating ddeokbokki after school when she got the call suggesting that she was asked to sign an exclusive contract with SM Entertainment. She said after she got the phone call, she recalled the precise location, as well as the air surrounding her.

SEULGI

By an open audition, Seulgi had become an SM trainee. Her father applied for the application on her behalf when she was just in sixth grade.

When she didn't get a reply back, she thought the audition failed, but one year after, The long-awaited telephone call arrived, and she started her first year of middle school preparation.

Seulgi attended classes throughout her trainee days without attracting much publicity after SM Entertainment had told her to keep it hidden that she was a trainee. At the period she was a trainee, she was reportedly acquainted with f(x) Krystal, Sulli, and EXO Kai.

WENDY

Wendy had been interested in singing since she'd been six. In contrast to her excellent singing abilities, she can also play various musical instruments, including piano, guitar, flute, and saxophone.

Before her career, when Wendy had been living in a foreign country, a friend had uploaded a clip of her singing, which immediately got extremely popular.

Wendy benefited greatly with all the positive comments written on the video and decided to post more recordings and embrace singing she enjoyed the most.

SM Entertainment chose Wendy after an audition at the S.M. In 2012, Global Audition was launched in Canada and as a participant of SM Pre-debut Entertainment band SM Rookies on March 14, 2014.

JOY

Since she was small, Joy liked to sing and was especially interested and into modern trot songs.

She was selected in her 1st year of secondary school through the 2012 Global SM Audition in Korea. She started singing the track "I Wish It Could Be That Way Now," a song made in 1993 by Cho Yong Pil (three years after she was born!).

She performed the song with her powerful voice after her appearance on a show, giving the viewers a preview of what her audition must have been like.

YERI

Yeri auditioned at a rather young age and then became a trainee when she was in a primary school in fifth grade. She arranged only JYP music for the audition, as she had learned elsewhere that at their audition, you could not perform SM songs.

She eventually found that this is not the truth as the auditioner made her perform a song from their own agency.

She had become an SM Rookie and starred with several other SM Rookie participants on Red Velvet's "Happiness" music video before even being later admitted to Red Velvet as a member, following their launch for their first mini-album "Ice Cream Cake."
