On May 14, it was reported that BLINKs, fandom of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, sent another batch truck banner around YG Entertainment and its subsidiary The Black Label's buildings, traveling around Korean media and broadcasting as well.
This is not a surprise among K-pop fans, though, as it was a project BLINKs have been planning and working on, and finally, they are able to launch it today.
The truck banners showed the demands of fans and supporters regarding BLACKPINK - asking for better treatment and promotion, which are the same demands to BLINKs' protest trucks they've sent last December 2019. Along with the truck banners, the songs of BLACKPINK were also being played while roaming Seoul.
The reasons why BLINKs are protesting is due to YG Entertainment's lack of response amidst their requests for a long time. This includes a proper promotion, an album with at least six songs, setting an exact time for album pre-orders, and two comebacks per year. It has been noted that it has been one and two months since BLACKPINK had their last comeback, which is during their release of "KILL THIS LOVE."
In addition, BLINKs are also demanding to announce the solo debut date of all members such as Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa, including a solo comeback for Jennie. Moreover, fans are talking about the utilization of BLACKPINK's official social media accounts to have an admin that will do a proper promotion for them during their scheduled activities as well as to update contents about the idols, too.
Furthermore, they've added that BLACKPINK should have more appearances and exposure on variety shows, music shows, and participation at the end of year award ceremonies.
On top of these demands, BLINKs also pleaded YG Entertainment to take full legal actions towards the malicious comments and false rumors that are being written about the members.
Recently, YG Entertainment announced the major return of BLACKPINK this June. But despite this exciting news, fans still feel restless and wary, as up until now, there are no further details about the comeback. It has been reported that the girl group already finished recording and will be shooting their music video this month, but other than that, there's none. And while the most recent update about their comeback was allegedly leaked by Shopee Taiwan, YG Entertainment still hasn't confirmed if the claim of June 12 comeback is true or false.
Also, according to fans, YG Entertainment always says that they will protect their artists' privacy and safety against malicious haters and threats. Still, just recently, BLACKPINK Lisa received death threats from anti-fans, saying that they will shoot the member during BLACKPINK's comeback stage, and though YG affirms to sort it out, fans remain worried. Thailand's embassy in South Korea also spoke out on this horrendous threat.
Thus, #NO_More_Lies_YG is trending in Twitter right now, with the aim of informing the whole world about this protest. Currently, several broadcast and media, may it be domestically or international press, are covering the story.
