The much-anticipated virtual graduation "Dear Class of 2020" was held on the 7th and showcased various celebrities and personalities, including BTS.
BTS were given the opportunity to speak at the ceremony, wherein they are the Asian representatives. In the said four-hour live streaming broadcast, the septet spoke one by one about their personal experiences during their graduations. Each gave a heartwarming message to the graduates, who were mostly robbed of their would've been special moments in their own rites, due to the current pandemic COVID-19.
RM went first and gave his message by sharing first his memorable graduation experience.
He began, "Today, we might not have flowers, we might not have graduation caps. What we have is probably the most special graduation ceremony in history."
Then, he detailed how it was, saying he can't forget that it snowed hard on such a special moment in his life. He added that they are very excited about what lies ahead of the graduates of this year.
Jungkook then said his piece. He mentioned that his graduation was recorded through BTS Bomb and recalled that he was with his band while finishing his high school year. He said to the graduates, "I hope that you will also do the same for yourself and move forward."
The third one to speak was Jin. He said that prior to becoming a member of BTS officially, he graduated in high school. He mentioned that the notion of becoming an adult was scary, and he felt anxious about going out of his comfort zone to face the world.
Jin added that to compete with the others of his level would make him breathless.
"I realized that their pace wasn't mine," he said.
To the graduates, this was what Jin said, "If any of you feels lost, in the face of uncertainty and doubt, or the pressure of starting anew, don't rush. Take a deep breath."
The fourth one to speak was Suga. It was a very meaningful speech about how he feels at the moment, knowing that he was recently involved in issues.
He said, "These days, I feel like I've fallen to the ground in the middle of a race. I dust my knees and get up, only to find that there is no one around me."
Suga stated that he feels like he's alone on a deserted island. He added, This might not be the grand finale that you had thought of, and a new start might seem far away. But I want to tell you: Please don't be afraid and don't worry." He also said that one's possibilities in life are limitless.
Jimin was next who said that he worries about everyone and wishes all to be safe. He said that one should never give up.
"Remember, there is a person here in Seoul, Korea, who understands you. We're all in different parts of the world, in different circumstances and environments. But, at this moment, I hope we can all give each other a pat on the back and say: 'It's okay,'" Jimin said.
J-Hope's message is focused on never giving up in the attempt to pursue one's dreams.
He said, "The next attempt might not be perfect, but the second is better than the first. And the third is better than the second. And that is the moment I decide. I am glad I chose not to give up."
Lastly, BTS V shared his thoughts and mentioned that he didn't have innate skills in singing and dancing, but later on, developed his sense of passion for such.
"This joy motivated my constant efforts and has led me to where I am today." His core message was, "Listen to your heart."
