Do 2NE1 and BLACKPINK share similar concepts?
YG Entertainment has been teasing fans with BLACKPINK's teaser posters for their comeback on June 26. And like most fans when their faves are set to make a return, BLINKs are being keen on every detail of the image teasers and video trailers. While some say that this concept is fresh, others who have been following YG artists argue that 2NE1 and BLACKPINK have similar concepts.
These two girl groups, who happen to have the same number of members, have always been compared by online users. They say that YG Entertainment is not giving BLACKPINK a raw theme or a new flavor to offer fans, and instead, some claim that their concepts have been used by their seniors and iconic hitmakers, 2NE1.
Below are the member-to-member comparisons made by eagle-eyed fans.
Jennie Kim and CL
Jennie Kim is seen wearing a see-through veil on her latest individual teaser image. Then, some noted CL also wore a brilliant-cast see-through mask in one of 2NE1's photos.
Jisoo and Dara
Jisoo and Dara have been noted as twins for being look-alikes, as per what fans claim. Now, Jisoo's teaser photo for BLACKPINK's comeback makes others say that her makeup resembles one of Dara's concept aura in one of their promotions.
Rosé and Park Bom
BLINKs are amazed at Rosé, flaunting intricately beaded eyeshadow on BLACKPINK's comeback teaser photo. However, some fans recalled that Park Bom also had that same concept, as seen in previous photos.
Lisa and Minzy
BLACKPINK's similarities of their new teasers to 2NE1 greatly convinced more fans as Lisa's red hair is, according to netizens, a replica to Minzy's. Fans also stated that the two had showcased extraordinary nail arts.
Through this juxtaposition, some internet users ruled out that YG Entertainment's taste when it comes to concepts is almost the same as before. It's not new to witness discussions among Blackjacks and BLINKs about these two bands, being compared - with some even calling them as rival groups - even though both came from the same label. Others also claimed that BLACKPINK is the replacement of 2NE1 that disbanded amid the height of their stardom.
Meanwhile, the BLACKPINK's pre-release track "How You Like That" is set for release on June 26, and fans' excitement is escalating, expecting the single to dominate the K-pop scene.
