Naturally, K-pop artists keep releasing a bunch of songs other than the title tracks that often end up as their music videos. Whoever decides the title track of an artist has mostly a difficult decision to make because B-side songs on album tracks are sometimes as great (if not stronger, according to a few) as the title song!
Recently, fans were engrossed in a discussion board to analyze albums' title tracks that they believe are the "least impressive," but this does not mean they're terrible songs.
Below is the list of K-pop albums that netizens believe have insanely good B-side songs.
BTS's ON
Album: Map of the Soul: 7
"The soundtrack succeeds with the choreo as well as the performance, and I can't hear it alone, as I appear to have done with the previous title tracks. The rest of the album is much stronger and listen-able for me."
WayV's "Turn Back Time"
Album: Awaken The World
"Though I believe 'Turn Back Time' is good, it is pretty excellent, but it isn't so much fun for me as most of the other songs and far too many great songs are there!"
"The title track might also be 'Unbreakable,' the melody of the hook and tone are so pleasant. 'Up From Here' is special, too, that I REALLY want the whole music to be seen in an MV. All these [B-sides] leave me feeling a kind of special, while 'Turn Back Time' doesn't. Really."
Cosmic Girls' "Boogie Up"
Album: For The Summer
"For The Summer, WJSN. Boogie up is great, but then the other songs, particularly 'Let's Dance,' are absolutely amazing."
GOT7's "Eclipse"
Album: Spinning Top
"'Eclipse' from GOT7's 'Spinning Top' album... wishing they could've decided that the title track was 'Page.'"
GFriend's "Crossroads"
Album: Labyrinth
"They have already been mentioned here, but I would also select GFriend's 'Crossroads' as well as, to a slightly lesser extent, the 'Butterfly' of WJSN. I'm not the latter's greatest fan, but it still started to work - however, the former won't stick to me at all, which was not very intriguing either, but that's risky for a title song. They should really have gone with Labyrinth, which I still can't appreciate completely but would have been a far more sensible alternative."
CLC's "Where Are You"
Album: Free'sm
"CLC's Free'sm album title track 'Where Are You' wasn't a great choice for the title track. Cube may have chosen 'Summer Kiss' or 'I like it' to perform for promotions."
EXO's "Ko Ko Bop"
Album: The War
"'The War' is EXO's best album (DMUMT and EXODUS come close). Completely zero fails. In particular, 'Forever,' 'Going Crazy,' and 'Walk On Memories' are definitely outstanding, quality songs. 'Forever' is a song that I still bop to so hard. 'The War' is completely insane, and it's been nice that Ko Ko Bop is in one of the most excellent K-pop albums ever made, but then, the other tracks are just greater."
SHINee's "Countless"
Album: "The Story Of Light"
"With SHINee, I seriously believe 'Countless' is the least effective track on the repackages of "The Story of Light. It's not absolutely awful, but I absolutely adore every B-side so much more, and I believe, 'Who Waits For Love,' 'Chemistry,' 'Electric,' etc. could have been much more fascinating songs to consider having an MV if SM had chosen it."
(G)I-DLE's "Senorita"
Album: I Made
"I'm probably one of the few individuals who really like 'Senorita' as a (G)I-DLE title track, but I guess most of the songs in 'I made' are great. Originally, I didn't even think so, but I began to really like 'Blow Your Mind' and 'Give Me Your' a bunch after I re-listened to the song several months after it came out."
