BTS just created headlines for topping charts in Oricon! The Japanese music ranking on June 19 revealed that for the first quarter of 2020, BTS dominated its record sales charts.
As per Oricon, after 429,000 copies were sold in Japan, the band's recent album "Map of the Soul: 7" was declared no. 1 on the music charts in the first quarter of the year. Following the launch in February, "Map of the Soul: 7" has recently surpassed the daily, weekly, and monthly album rankings by Oricon. BTS finished at no. 3 last year on the Oricon album ranking with their mini-album "Map of the Soul: Persona" for the first quarter of 2019.
That being said, not only is the rank an accomplishment for the band, but it also represents the first instance a foreign act has dominated Oricon's music charts during the first half of the year of the year in 36 years. The last musician who achieved this feat was Michael Jackson, with his legendary hit "Thriller," topping the chart in 1984.
BTS are the very first male celebrities to peak the chart in three years, as experienced by Japanese band SMAP who last reached the 2017 rankings.
BTS is presently getting ready to release their fourth Japanese album "Map of the Soul: 7 - The Journey" on July 15, following the completion of their latest Korean album.

Rolling Stone has chosen the BTS album as one of the best for 2020 up to date! The music magazine decided to share their unranked summary of "The 50 Best Albums of 2020 So Far" on June 17. BTS's "Map of the Soul: 7" showcases their selections of the most notable launches of the year, and it's also the sole release from a Korean artist.
With respect to the album, Rolling Stone remarked, "'Map of the Soul: 7' is the smashiest and strong album of BTS, yet, demonstrating their proficiency and competence of various pop genres from rap bangers to slow-dance pop songs to post-Swedish electro-disco to philosophical prog-style. The seven members are seven years together, and it greatly influenced them to sum it all up where they were, as they glance to their bright future of them."
JIMIN SHARES HOW BTS COMMEMORATED THEIR 7TH ANNIVERSARY
BTS's Jimin conducted a live stream on YouTube on June 16 has spoken about the group's forthcoming album, their previous online live performance, seventh-anniversary comeback, and much more.
Recently, Jimin shared that he has accepted the task of being the musical project manager (PM) for the next BTS album.
By telling fans just how he missed them in his live stream, he stated, "First of all, the point I wish to talk now is that we've been all gathering recently to have conversations so that we can produce the album."
Jimin went on to say that the members have always spoken about just how much they missed live performances recently. He expressed that they told one another that because they alone can not make the situation better, they must not feel too hasty, and then should just do the stuff they should be doing.
"We couldn't get everyone to participate and perform for you in "BANG BANG CON" personally, but we were extremely thankful and touched on interacting and reaching out with you all while doing so," he said.
"For this reason, 'BANG BANG CON' was really enjoyable both during the planning of the concert and during the concert. Thanks to everyone who applauded and watched us," Jimin added.
