On June 19, Friday, SM Entertainment released a statement of support to the "Black Lives Matter" movement on their social media pages.

Their statement expressed sadness over the recent events in the United States that show the systemic devaluation of black lives. They went on to say that they stand with their black collaborators, friends, and fans, and stand with those speaking out against racism.

The company added that they continue to educate themselves on the injustices being experienced in the world, and wish to further bring awareness to the "Black Lives Matter" movement. They admit that they are new to the conversation, but this a key commitment that they will continue to support.

The post includes the hashtags: #EndRacism, #EndViolence, and #BlackLivesMatter. It also includes a link to the Color of Change website, a site where people can donate or join their campaigns. People can also use the website to educate themselves on what is happening in the United States, what the "Black Lives Matter" movement is, and the victories of the movement.

Many people lauded SM Entertainment for their statement, with people saying that they are glad SM Entertainment joined the movement and used their platform to promote a good cause.

Others, however, pointed out that SM Entertainment had underpaid and disrespected Tiffany Red, a black producer who produced NCT U's "BOSS" and NCT Dream's "Go."

In an angry post on Instagram, Tiffany called out SM Entertainment for using black producers and having music influenced by black culture, but they still underpay and disrespect their black producers.
