SM Entertainment announced that a possible legal action must be taken against Red Velvet's Irene and Seulgi's malicious commenters.
Keen-eyed ReVeluvs were recently enraged after spotting inappropriate and malicious messages through the Dear U. Bubble feature under the Lysn application of SM Entertainment. The feature allows fans to get messages from their favorite SM idols with a corresponding payment. Thus, this platform became the means of ReVeluvs to communicate with the girls for months now.
However, screenshot messages of a Dear U. Bubble user were shared through Nate Pann, which shows those distasteful messages towards Irene and Seulgi. It was said that the malicious commenter asked Irene to undress and send nude photos.
In a separate screenshot, there are some messages for Seulgi that are directly criticizing her bandmates. The messages also said that Irene and Seulgi's sub-unit was delayed on purpose because SM Entertainment is scared of another K-pop girl group, IZ*ONE.
Due to this, Irene and Seulgi's label, SM Entertainment, sent a notice through the app that they will never tolerate users who violate rules mandated by the app. They reiterated that defamation, obscene language and symbols, and provocation of fear and anxiety on their talents will be banned from the Dear U. Bubble.
In addition, sanctions will be applied, possibly, in the form of suspension or ban. The agency also revealed that they will take legal actions against violators and ensure they will be penalized by the law if proven guilty.
This is not the first time that K-pop artists received malicious comments and online harassment from netizens that usually disguise as fans but turn out to be antis. One example is IU's malicious commenters who were already sanctioned by the law, as confirmed by her agency earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Red Velvet's first-ever sub-unit, Irene and Seulgi, are slated to debut on July 6 with their album "Monster." The band's leader, Irene, personally announced the debut date to ReVeluvs on the Lysn app.
Their unit debut was initially scheduled for this month, but the duo and SM Entertainment decided to delay it to polish the album more.
