Whenever BTS or anything BTS related gets posted online, it's not rare to see a purple heart mentioned in the comments. In fact, numerous fans would leave purple hearts under the posts, while some even have it on their usernames. If not a purple heart, fans will leave messages that say "I purple you," which also means "I love you." Have you ever wondered why? Figure it out here.

It's actually V who had come up with the saying "I purple you!" Back in November 2016, during the group's 3rd muster, V said in his ending comment "I purple you," just as the lighting had shined purple on the crowd.

V explained why he chose purple as the color, saying, "Do you know what purple means? It's the last color of the rainbow. It means I will trust and love you for along time. I just made it up. I wish I could see you for a long time, just like the meaning of purple. We will always trust you and go up higher with you. You don't need to help us all the time. You can just hold our hands and follow us. We'll go really high, it will be so nice."

Fans were touched by V's message, with many praising how he managed to come up with such an eloquent message with just a color. Most importantly, he did it to show is overflowing love for the ARMY, BTS's fans.

Ever since then, ARMYs have used to express their affection for BTS. In turn, the boys use it in their social media posts to show their love for their fans. The boys of BTS often use purple hearts to end their tweets, and if you just check the BTS hashtag on Twitter and Instagram, a purple heart will usually appear at the end of the post. Fans have opted to use the purple heart since it encompasses V's message in a single emoticon.

On top of that, fans usually hear the members saying "I purple you" in their ending speeching at their concerts as well as during their award show speeches. Whenever it is said, ARMYs know that is the group's way of showing their thanks to the fans for supporting them.

Out of all the members, V is the one who says it the most, and it's most likely because he was the one who created the phrase.

Additionally, BTS's partnerships with Starbucks and FILA are all in shades of purple, referencing how big an impact that phrase has on the group and ARMY. It even caught the eye of UNICEF, who tweeted at the BTS army for showing resting and supporting each other everyday. As ARMYs know, BTS created the #LoveMyself campaign in collaboration with UNICEF's #ENDViolence campaign. At the end of the tweet, UNICEF added "We purple you", accompanied with the purple heart.
