On June 22, Monday, Golden Child made their comeback with "ONE (Lucid Dream)", and people are finally taking notice of the boy's talents.
The boys were able to chart at number eleven on the Bugz chart, and all of the songs on their album were able to make the top 100. Prior to this comeback, they would only make the top 400. Their fans, Goldenness, shared their emotions online, with some even crying out of joy that their favorite group is being recognized. Fans are now aiming to get the song charting on MelOn.
The hype for Golden Child stems from their appearance on Mnet's "Road to Kingdom". During the show, they mesmerized viewers with their performances of "T.O.P" by Shinhwa and their own song "Wannabe". Despite their wonderful stages, the boys were the first group to be eliminated.
Many Korean netizens were surprised by the elimination, with many saying they disagreed with most of the current ranking, saying that they believe Golden Child along with ONEUS should have ranked higher. Netizens refrained from criticizing the other participants of the show and agreed that some groups, like The Boyz, deserved their top spot, but many disagreed with how low the others ranked.
Following their elimination, Woolim Entertainment announced the group was gearing for a comeback in May 29, 2020. Many people were looking forward to the comeback, as the group had garnered a larger audience following their appearance on the show. And it seems that that audience put in all their effort to making the group chart!
Additionally, the boys were able to garner over 3 million views on their music video on YouTube. By the second day, they reached over 4 million views. Even non-fans of the group have commented on the video and on numerous Korean forums that the song is good.
As the numbers of fans keep growing, the group is expected to take on new heights with each activity. Good luck and congratulations, Golden Child!
