NCT 127's Taeyong will sit out the group's Music Bank recording due to health reasons.
On the morning of June 26, Friday, SM Entertainment announced through the official fan cafe of NCT 127, saying, "We would like to inform the fans concerning the group's appearance on KBS's Music Bank recording on June 26 for the '2020 Mid-Year Special'. Member Taeyong will not appear on the show for health reasons."
SM Entertainment's full statement reads:
"Hello. This is SM Entertainment.
We would like to inform the fans concerning the group's appearance on KBS's Music Bank recording on June 26 for the '2020 Mid-Year Special.'
Member Taeyong will not appear on the broadcast for health reasons.
We would like to apologize to the fans who have been looking forward to the performance with all members, and we will work with Taeyong to greet you again as quickly as possible."
Taeyong first debuted in NCT U in 2016 with "The 7th Sense" and made his NCT 127 debut later that year with "Firetruck." The idol released his first solo single "Long Flight" back in 2019. In the same year, he debuted with SuperM, along with NCT 127 member Mark, EXO's Kai and Baekhyun, WayV's Ten and Lucas, and SHINee's Taemin.
Recently, the idol was embroiled in controversy after an informant started spreading lies about Taeyong's previous middle school bullying scandal. This prompted some Korean fans and netizens to call for his withdrawal from the group. On June 25, however, Dispatch debunked all of the informant's lies with screenshots of conversations and testimonies from people in Taeyong's past."
