BLACKPINK Domination, everyone! After their back-to-back Guinness World Records with their latest single, "How You Like That," the female idol group sets another record-breaking achievement, as the first act to reach and surpass 200 Million views in the shortest period in history.
According to the official release of YG Entertainment, the agency of the idol group, BLACKPINK's pre-release song for their upcoming full-length album, "How You Like That" officially surpassed 200 million views on YouTube at 6:46 pm, which was also posted on YG's official blog, conveying its congratulatory post for BLACKPINK.
However, aside from it, this is not the first time that the girl group's new song shocked the whole world and YouTube, with its impact and power. Upon its release on June 26, the music video for "How You Like That" is the first K-pop MV to surpassed 87 Million views, the first act to record that kind of views. Furthermore, the MV runs in the fastest pace to reach 100 Million views among music videos which were achieved within 32 hours only.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK beats the recent record of Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do, "as the fastest MV to achieve 200 Million Views, in a span of 7.6 days. In particular, prior to Taylor Swift, the girl group holds the record with their song, "KILL THIS LOVE," reaching 200M views in 11.7 days. Thus, BLACKPINK finally regained their top spot, even beating their own record.
Aside from this, the girl group also maintained their standing as a girl group with MVs surpassing 200 Million Views, even on their recent tracks. Currently their hits songs "DDU-DU-DDU-DU," surpassed 1.2 Billion, while "KILL THIS LOVE," and "BOOMBAYAH," recorded approximately 900 Million Views each.
Also, aside from breaking YouTube history with incredible achievements, BLACKPINK is also proving their power and influence in domestic and international charts. Just right after "How You Like That," release, they immediately rose to MeLOn, Genie, and Bugs charts, topping 64 countries in iTunes as well including the United States.
It is not surprising though, as BLACKPINK even had their first performance of "How You Like That," in "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," as the first-ever K-pop group to have their comeback performance in a US Broadcast show- proving their popularity in the said country. The group's pre-release song also tops Asian charts, including Line Music of Japan, QQ Music in China, and Tencent music chart.
BLACKPINK currently has 40.1 million YouTube subscribers, the largest single channel in Korea. In Instagram as well, BLACKPINK members are one of the most followed K-pop idols. Due to their impact around the world, the four are now officially global ambassadors of their respective luxury brands; Jennie for Chanel, Lisa for Prada and Celine, Jisoo for Dior, and Rosé for Yves Saint Laurent. On their recent press conference, the four members even appeared representing their brands' items, standing out through their individual shine.
