On July 21st, the former Miss A Jia revealed a heartbreaking post on Weibo, a Chinese social media website, regarding her breast tumor surgery. The singer stated:
"Although I haven't seen the latest Chinese drama 'Nothing But Thirty,' I keep seeing snips and clips about the series. One video showed the character of Wang Man Ni played by Maggie Jiang, and I totally related to the role."
"It reminded me of an experience I once had. None of my fans know this, and even my family only found out about this later on. A little while after I debuted with Miss A, I had to undergo a lumpectomy. I was alone at that time, my family was far away, so I was scared."
When Jia found out about her breast tumor, she just started her K-pop career and didn't want to worry her family. The doctors informed her that they had to remove the lump in order to find out if it was cancerous or not.
"I couldn't tell my family; I also didn't want my mom to worry. Besides, they didn't understand Korean, so I decided not to let her talk with the doctors. So I decided to go to the hospital by own and have the surgery."
"I remember being scared to get the anesthesia, like what if I don't wake up. But thankfully, I did. When I woke up, I was alone. I didn't know what to feel. I was scared and sad, but when I felt like giving up, I just silently cried."
"After the successful surgery and my recovery, I decided to let my mom know. She felt hurt and sad that I didn't tell her. But it has all been done and said."
"To our past and present selves who still choose to float around, let's give each other a big hug."
Jia ended her heartbreaking story on a positive note. Everyone has experiences that they choose to deal with on their own, so let's all be kind to one another. Everyone, fighting!
