Sandara Park will always have a lingering feeling to her second home: Philippines!
It is not a secret that the K-pop icon, who is prominently known as Dara, despite being a full Korean is really in love with her second country, Philippines. In her younger days, her family resided in the country, developing a "Filipina heart" in her as well as learningi its native language, Filipino.
In a recent broadcast of MBC's "Video Star," hosted by Park Narae, Park So Hyun, and Sandara Park, the Korean actress-singer, Dara, gave a good laugh to the viewers and K-pop fans as she savagely changes her words into a foreign language while doing a skit with their special guest, veteran actress Choi Surin.
The skit started with discussing the plot of the story, wherein Choi Surin will play as the conservative mother-in-law, while Sandara will take the role of a daughter-in-law who hid her identity.
As the skit started, Choi Surin attacked Dara's fashion saying, "I gave you a top-quality curtain, and you are using it like this?"
Dara then replied, "This is the current trend, mother."
The mother-in-law then said in a condescending tone, "I didn't like you from the beginning," with Dara immediately answering that she's an honest person.
However, Choi Surin didn't even blink an eye, and responded with a threatening voice, "What?? Try to say that again, look up and say it again."
That's when Sandara started running out of words, and from the Korean language, she suddenly switched to speaking Tagalog.
"Ano pong sinasabi niyo? (What are you saying?) Di ko po kayo maintindihan (I can't understand you). Galing po kasi ako ng Pilipinas (I actually came from the Philippines)," Dara said, surprising the viewers and the hosts for suddenly speaking a foreign language.
Choi Surin tried to counterattack, but frozen and puzzled, she suddenly burst into laughter along with other hosts and guests.
Sandara then ended the skit saying, "I want a divorce."
After it was aired, clips of the show with Sandara speaking Tagalog circulated online, even trending overnight on Twitter with over 45,000 tweets about her.
Even non-Filipino and Korean viewers were amazed by Sandara Park, as they are also curious about what she said. Nevertheless, they found the clip very entertaining and funny, especially the part where everyone was confused and curious about what she just spoke.
Meanwhile, Filipino fans are thankful to the K-pop star for always remembering the country. She's been known in the country even before her debut in the legendary group 2NE1. This is after she joined a casting show in the Philippines, Star Circle Quest, and later on debuting as a solo artist and actress, where she's also dubbed as the "Pambansang Krung Krung," a term for a person who is making everyone laugh and giving entertainment due to her honesty, even if she sounds or appears like a crazy person.
Filipinos also praised her for showing that she's indeed one of the most well-mannered Korean artists, for even using "Po" (a word added to show respect to elders) towards Choi Surin even if she can't understand her.
On the other hand, Sandara Park is currently gearing up for her song music video.
