Former U-Kiss member, Alexander made his shocking revelation about the truth on his departure from the band.
In his most recent appearance on "Jaykeeout x VWVB" YouTube channel, the former idol honestly spoke about what happened rather than what was announced by his old label on his departure. Thus, it gave an understanding of how some idols might have experienced the same treatment without fans' knowledge.
He began his story about becoming the first member of the band that was proposed by the CEO. Eventually, other members, SooHyun, Kevin, and Kibum came next. Then, other members came in, thus completing the boy group, U-Kiss. He even added that his skills were horrible, as he was only given 6-8 months of training before debuting.
He also mentioned the real struggle of being a foreign K-pop idol. Alexander is of mixed descent as his mother is a Korean while his father is a Chinese-Portuguese. He said that he was almost arrested for working as an illegal immigrant.
While he was having fun looking back at his 3-year participation with U-Kiss, Alexander finally spoke about being pulled out from the group rather than personally leaving his band. He started saying, "A lot of people didn't know what happened. I never talked about it. I didn't want to because it might have been bad for the company's image, and the group still existed."
Alexander narrated that the company was telling him that they needed more Koreans in the group and that he didn't do well. He said that he was pissed off as he helped the boys with overseas promotions and even taught them how to market with Twitter and other stuff. He was initially proposed to join the offshore unit, giving him the impression that he was being cut off from the band.
However, Alexander could not forget what an employee told him that he was stereotyped and discriminated against as a South Korean idol. "Think about it, Alexander. Do you think you are popular in Korea? You are not popular," Alexander recounted. He added that it was how a lot of entertainment agencies treat their artists. He said that these companies "brainwash" their talents.
Then, his aunt went to the CEO to straightforwardly speak to him about their reason for casting Alexander as a part of the group and asked them to let him leave if they think he is no longer good enough for the company.
Technically, he left for such reason, and the agency, NH Media, released a statement that he left to pursue his education. He said it was not easy at first, but eventually, he switched into acting, which paved the way for the aftermath of his idol career.
