The former Wonder Girls Yubin shares how she lacks self-esteem because of HyunA.
At 6 PM on the 7th, Yubin gave a lecture titled "Don't do anything, don't do anything," on her official YouTube channel, "Time to Change the World 15 Minutes." The former Wonder Girls' Yubin drew attention from viewers by revealing the pre-debut stories of her past group. She initially revealed that while undergoing training, the company met difficulties so she thought she wouldn't be able to debut with a group, but fortunately, she landed a spot with Wonder Girls.
Yubin recalled how happy she was when she felt loved by more people than she expected. It was also the thing that urged her to work harder.
However, when they entered the U.S., many told her that she was looking exhausted. Although she loved what she was doing at that time, she started asking herself questions like "Who am I?," "Is this really what I want to do?," and "Is it right for me to receive these benefits?"
She then revealed that she was always compared to a good friend friend, the K-pop idol HyunA. Since HyunA was extremely charming and great, she felt little. Her self-esteem dropped a lot but she managed to improve herself later. "I am a rapper but I dance hard, I sing hard, and I also took acting lessons," she explained.
HyunA constantly receives praises among audience for her charm and great talent as a K-pop artist. When HyunA left Wonder Girls for health reasons, Yubin became a replacement after a year. It was a quick call from JYP that she did not see coming.
Regarding the hiatus that occurred when she returned to Korea after entering the U.S., Yu-bin said, "I thought 'What am I doing?' seeing all the members working hard on something, and I think I had more time to compare myself with others." She then started learning to play drums to intensify her skills. Producer Park Jin-young inspired her, and Wonder Girls came back with a band concept.
Regarding the emptiness that comes after the goal, Yubin said, "I think I've created an opportunity to find myself by doing what I like one by one. I'm not a big deal, but I did my best whenever I had something I wanted to do. I think those experiences have led me to where I am now, and I think I was able to create a gem called 'I,'" she said in a message of support.
Lastly, Yu-bin speaks a message to individuals who are worrying whether they are doing well at the moment. "You're doing well, and it's right to do what you want. Don't be swayed by what others say. Be happy and have fun. Trust yourself," she concluded.
