Following revelations that former AOA member Kwon Mina was bullied by fellow member and leader Jimin for ten years, one fan decided to stand up for Kwon Mina and filed a complaint, requesting a police investigation.
On August 9, Sunday, a post was shared with the AOA gallery on the DCinside community board titled, "Request a for a full-scale investigation on the AOA incident has been sent to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department". The fan who shared the post said, "I don't think I can stand by and just watch anymore. I felt something had to be done, so I requested the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department to hold a full-scale investigation regarding the AOA bullying incident."
The poster went on to share a screenshot of the civil complaint they filed, requesting investigations for the incident. The screenshot reads:
"TITLE: Please conduct an investigation regarding the bullying incident that occurred within AOA, a group under FNC Entertainment.
SUBJECT: On August 8 (Saturday), former AOA member Kwon Mina shared a self-harm post through social media which surprised the public. Thankfully, she is not in critical condition, but because she has posted about self-harm in the post, we must keep track of her activity. This time, Kwon Mina revealed the names of the people who have given her a hard time. Fans of Kwon Mina cannot just sit back and watch the situation unfold any longer. We want her to overcome and recover from this situation. We urgently request that the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department hold a full-scale investigation regarding the incident so that the guilty people receive punishment."
Back in early July, Mina revealed she chose to leave AOA after the bullying she received by a member for over ten years. A the time, Mina did not name which member had bullied her. Former AOA member and leader Jimin then posted the word "Fiction" to her Instagram Story, implying that Mina was lying about the bullying. Following this, Mina revealed that the member who had bullied her was Jimin and that she had endured lots of pain during her time with the group.
One of the incidents Mina revealed was when her father had passed away. At the time, despite the sadness she felt, he made sure she could complete activities, taking minimal days off to mourn and to not ruin the mood of the group to avoid facing Jimin's wrath. However, when it was Jimin's father who passed away, all of her activities were canceled and her family had the VIP room in the hospital.
AOA members and their manager went to visit Mina with the intention of apologizing. However, Jimin started threatening to kill herself while wielding a knife and ultimately gave an insincere apology, according to Mina. Jimin then went on Instagram to say she apologized and had begged for Mina's forgiveness. Mina refuted this, saying that Jimin's apology was insincere and she was instead gaslighted by the former AOA leader, who claimed she did not remember any of the bullyings. Mina revealed that all of the individuals who visited her at her house, the AOA members and FNC Entertainment managers and staff, had sided with Jimin.
FNC Entertainment eventually announced that Jimin was leaving AOA would retire from the entertainment industry. On August 9, Sunday, FNC Entertainment released an apology to Kwon Mina, but the apology was met with immense backlash.
On August 8, Mina's agency (Woori Actors) confirmed that she is receiving emergency treatment at a hospital, and her condition is currently non-life threatning.
