Whether it's because of fan signs or because it is their birthday, idols have received numerous gifts from their fans. While most people give idols modest gifts, like plushies or headbands, these idols went the extra mile and splurged a bunch of cash to give something to their favorite idols.
We talked about idols receiving lavish gifts earlier, and we're presenting you some more! Here are some of the most expensive gifts K-Pop idols have received.
1. IZ*ONE's Sakura
For Sakura's birthday, Sakura's Chinese fan union had bought an advertising spot at the Nantong City building in the Jiangsu province in China. On top of that, they bought an advertising spot in Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, Samsung Station 4M Billboard Advertisement, and Yeouido IFC shopping center screen advertisement.
2. EXO's Chanyeol
For EXO's Chanyeol's birthday in 2018, his Chinese fan union set up a large rubber doll that was 5 meters tall to float on the Han River. The large floating rubber doll shows a child wearing a yellow hat and is reminiscent of the idol. The doll was so tall and adorable, it was featured on South Korean news!
3. LOONA's Haseul
For Haseul's birthday, ORBITs set up a Go Fund Me to support Haseul's creative work, as she has once stated in a fan sign that she was learning MIDI but her agency, Blockberry Creative, couldn't afford to buy her musical equipment. They were able to raise the money necessary to buy her A novation SL Mk III keyboard (with software Ableton live lite), Scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface, HP60 MK II Headphones, CM25 MkII Condenser Microphone, and a MacBook Pro!
4. EXO's Sehun
In February 2019, Sehun's largest Chinese fan union Sehun Bar bought airplanes and made it Sehun themed. His face was all over the interior and exterior of the plane, and people who boarded T'Way Airlines from May 27 to August 27 of that year would be blessed by Sehun's visuals throughout their flight. It is the world's first K-Pop idol themed airplane.
5. Hwang Chi Yeul
A fan from China once gifted Hwang Chi Yeul a Mercedes Benz! The fan decided to send such an expensive and luxurious gift to show how much they love his work and music. When Hwang Chi Yeul heard he received a whole car as a gift, he chose to send it back because it was too extravagant to keep.
Additionally, another Chinese fan revealed they bought 900 million won worth of albums. They bought all those albums to surprise the singer for his birthday in December 2017.
6. EXO and BTS
These two are put together because they have received two of the same things - fan sponsored billboards in Times Square. An ad spot in Time Square is not cheap; a 15-second per hour ad spot can cost over $31,000 USD a week. With the size and how long their billboard ads ran, it's no surprise if a fan union spent over $50,000 USD for their fans.
Do you know any other idol that has been gifted something super expensive?
