During a recent episode on Mnet's "TMI News", Teen Top revealed how they really feel about their controversial 2011 song, "No More Perfume On You".

"No More Perfume On You" is the title track from Teen Top's first studio album, "Roman". Though the song was loved for its sophisticated melody and harmonization, it was slammed for its controversial lyrics that talk about a man cheating on his girlfriend with an older woman. The song was produced by Big Hit Entertainment CEO, Bang Si Hyuk.

Some of the lyrics that received flack include "Don't spray perfume or I'll get caught by my girlfriend" and "Don't wear sparkles or it will get on my clothes."

During their appearance on "TMI News", Chanjo said, "Our song is pretty crazy. The song is saying, 'I am cheating right now, so do not wear sparkles. I might get caught by my girlfriend if you do. It's actually disgusting."

When Teen Top promoted the song, they were all teenagers. Changjo revealed that they had no idea what the actual lyrics meant at the time, saying, "We did not understand the lyrics back then. I just remember singing it happily. I thought it was a love song where we confess to a 'noona'."

Members Ricky and Niel revealed they only recently learned the true meaning of the lyrics and that they had no idea the guy in the song was cheating. Niel acknowledged that the lyrics can make people uncomfortable and even jokes around, saying, "If these lyrics make you uncomfortable, then we will never sing it again!"

Back in July 2020, "No More Perfume On You" was chosen as the most embarrassing song to listen to in public on an episode of "MMTG". The panel consisted of Teen Top member Niel, LOONA's Yves and Chuu, MBLAQ's Thunder, choreographer Bae Yoon Jung, and produced Ryan Jhun. The panel had agreed that the lyrics were "trashy".

Though Niel had tried to defend the song at the time, he ultimately also chose "No More Perfume On You". Though people would get hooked on the word "sparkle", once they start to focus on the lyric, they'll realize the lyrics are actually really controversial.
