One of BTS's history makers has proved himself once again! Jimin has become the first Korean artist to have two of his songs reach over 100 million streams on Spotify.
Jimin's solo song, "Serendipity (Full Length Edition)", has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, on September 20, 2020. Previously, Jimin's solo song, "Lie", surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify on April 27, 2020.
"Serendipity (Full Length Edition)" was released on August 24, 2018, and was included in BTS's album "Love Yourself: Answer". The song was well-loved by fans for how soulful it is, as it talks about finding love in an unexpected way but know that it is meant to be. In the recent BTS Festa 2020, "Serendipity" was selected by ARMYs as the "top song which reminds them of Jimin".
The song has received love from more than just K-pop fans and ARMYs. Even professional artists love the song! Shawn Stockman, a member of the legendary R&B boy group Boyz II Men, has expressed his love for Jimin and "Serendipity" on social media. Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Khalid has also expressed his love for the song.
"Lie" was released in 2016 and was included in BTS's album "Wings". The song was praised by critics and by fans for being stunning and dramatic, expressing darker undertones and emotions that matched the concept of the album perfectly.
To congratulate BTS on his monumental achievement, fans trended two hashtags on Twitter: #SerendipityFull100M and #RecordMakerJimin. Both hashtags trended in South Korea, with both international and Korean ARMYs sending the idol love.
Congratulations, Jimin!
