Part of idols' jobs is making fans happy and keeping them happy. This translates to interactions during fan meets, concerts, or sometimes when idols are out and about for their own private business. While most fans are thrilled to be meeting their idols and just the happiest they can be, others, not so much.
There have been multiple instances of fans being rude and malicious towards idols for no apparent reason. After all, they're supposed to be fans, yet they behave in such an inappropriate manner towards the people that they supposedly love and adore.
It is entirely absurd how much idols have to deal with in their creative careers simply because it's all "part and parcel" of the process. Here's a list of the times idols encountered rude fans.
1. SNSD TAEYEON
At the Angel Price Music Festival, the girls of SNSD were having the best time during their performance of Run Devil Run. However, an anomaly soon took place. A male fan came up onto the stage and forcefully dragged Taeyeon away. He was stopped as quickly as possible but even a second of that behavior was unnerving and perhaps traumatizing for Taeyeon. One can only imagine how scary it must have been for Taeyeon.
2. IU
During the intermission of one of her concerts, IU was a bit thirsty and asked whether anyone from the front row could kindly pass her a water bottle. Within seconds, someone chucked a water bottle at her with full force, which unfortunately hit her right in the face and pretty hard at that too. While the intentions might not have been ill, the audience is always instructed not to throw things on stage as that can be potentially harmful, disrespectful, and very rude to the artist.
IU quickly reassured the apologetic fan with a smile, saying that she was okay, but it's always kinder to not throw things at the artist, even with good intentions.
3. TWICE TZUYU
K-Pop idols always know to put their fans first and treat them with respect and love. However, it is extremely upsetting when the same is not reciprocated from the other end. During the end of a TWICE fan event, when everyone was wrapping up, saying their goodbyes, fans were thrilled. However, when it came to Tzuyu, multiple fans from the crowd started interrupting her, asking her to stop talking and just not greet the fans. The experience must have been so humiliating and upsetting for her as she was left flustered and embarrassed. She was not able to say a single word before passing the mic onto the next person.
4. AOA MINA
Mina has perhaps had the worst experience out of everyone here, especially considering how she wasn't even treated with respect and love by her group members, in specific, Jimin, the former leader of the group, let alone by fans. While many adored her, quite a few were disrespectful to her too. During a fan event, a fan came up to Mina and asked her how long she had trained before proceeding to tell her that she should focus on singing more rather than her appearance as that's what a singer's job is. She even warned her that Mina should practice singing more, or else she'll post malicious comments on Facebook. The video clip of this interaction recently went viral, pointing out how Jimin was joyfully smiling and playing around. Simultaneously, Mina's face visibly dropped after the horrible interaction, highlighting how Jimin had always thought less of Mina.
5. SEVENTEEN JOSHUA
A clip recently resurfaced online of a "fan" at a fan meeting where she was seen in a clear temper tantrum, throwing a hissy fit and disrespecting the members of SEVENTEEN. She was shoving things around and overall being extremely rude to the boys. People have assumed that it probably caused she thought Joshua was frowning at her.
However, that was not the case as Joshua was suffering from a swollen eye that day, which may have given off the wrong impression. Even if he was frowning, that still doesn't give her any right to behave that way as the artists are humans too and not at the disposal of fans.
The fan went on to have a fit of rage posting on SNS later, talking about how Joshua treated her well despite her behavior because she's rich. Her attitude was perhaps a result of her arrogance about wealth and misconception that she owned her idols simply because she paid money to see them.
