BLACKPINK Drops Stunning Music Video for Much-Anticipated Comeback "Lovesick Girls"

On October 2, Friday, at 1 PM KST, BLACKPINK dropped the music video for their much-anticipated comeback "Lovesick Girls", the title track of their first-ever full-length studio album "THE ALBUM".

The music video was full of BLACKPINK's emotions. Their eyes showed off a dark yet dreamy atmosphere as they show off different situations of hurt. We can see Jennie fighting with a man in a car, leading to a crash, Lisa leaning on an unknown man's chest, Rosé throwing black ink and sitting in a bathtub full of it, and Jisoo standing along in the rain, drenched.

The cause for their sadness appears to be from a love gone south. Their individual scenes contrast greatly with their group scenes, where the girls are seen in a beautiful, bright outdoor scenery riding a pink car. The girls can also be seen in some scenes dancing on a rooftop, wearing black and pink clothing.

BLACKPINK shows off a unique vibe that is almost reminiscent of a past comeback, "PLAYING WITH FIRE".

Prior to the release of the music video, teasers were shared with the group's social media. Already, fans were hooked with the addictive whistling and guitar riffs. The song is different from their past comebacks. While their previous comebacks leaned heavily into pop, "Lovesick Girls" is a fusion of country and K-pop, showing a blend of the West and the East. Rather like how the girls are making waves in the Western music market as a K-pop group!

"Lovesick Girls" was written and composed by members Jisoo and Jennie. The girls definitely did a good job, showing off a sophisticated melody and lyrics that perfectly showcases BLACKPINK's powerful vocals.

It was previously reported that pre-orders for "THE ALBUM" has surpassed one million pre-orders, with over 800,000 units sold within the first six days of the opening of pre-orders. The physical version of the albums will drop on October 6, four days after the digital drop. The numbers of orders for the album is expected to increase as "THE ALBUM" and "Lovesick Girls" gain more momentum and hype.
