With the Young Artist Academy Awards fast approaching, all eyes are on America's young talents. Since 1979, these awards have recognized young actors and directors for their achievements. One starlet that is getting a lot of attention this year is Chalet Lizette Brannan, a young Filipino American actress, and singer. She is up for three awards this November, including "Best Director" for her music video, "Waste My Time."
At the age of fifteen, Brannan is already a very talented singer. She is a soprano with an impressive range and profound inflection. In addition to "Waste My Time," she has also recently released a song called "3 am" and a cover of the song "Legends." Chalet is getting coached under Andrew Lang, and together, they are working on a project for Visio Studios, which comes out on November 1st. This is a big day for Brannan, as it's also the day that her new movie "Camp Twilight" is being released.
Brannan's choice to direct her music video was based on the fact that she is also a passionate actress. This is the first music video she has ever made. In addition to her Young Artist Academy nomination, the video is also considered in the Young Entertainer Awards.
Brannan has been nominated for two other categories besides "Best Director." She is being considered for Best Teen Artist in a Streaming Film for her role in "Friday the 13th: Vengeance." Brannan's part in "Wicked Enigma" is also up for Best Teen Artist in a Streaming Series. Last year, Brannan took home the award for Best Leading Young Actress. In 2018, Brannan won the Humanitarian Award for her work regarding children's cancer. This award was particularly significant to Brannan, having overcome leukemia herself at age ten.
The Young Artist Academy Awards are on November 21st at 4 pm PST. The event and all pre-show activities will be live-streamed with the purchase of a virtual ticket. All of Hollywood will be watching to find out what to expect from America's youngest stars.
