[Trigger Warning/Content Warning: Bullying]
Former SM Entertainment trainee and YouTuber Fukuhara Mone claims that Red Velvet member Irene bullied her during their trainee days.
On October 23, Thursday, Mone revealed through her Twitter account that Irene would bully her as a trainee while Seulgi would protect Mone from the bullyings. In her Twitter post, she refers to Irene as "Joohyun", which is Irene's real name.
Mone shared her tweet in English, Korean, and Japanese so that everyone who comes across it can understand her tweet. However, after the tweet started gaining attention, she deleted it from her account.
In another tweet, she clarified what she meant by "bullying" after fans replied to her tweet accusing Irene.
Netizens who saw the tweet expressed their disappointment with Irene once more, saying that even back then she had a bad attitude and that it continues to be exposed as time goes in. Some expressed shock that even a Japanese former trainee would come out to expose Irene for her behavior.
This is not the first time Mone has spoken up about being bullied by Irene. Previously, she left a comment on an old YouTube video in which she stated she was bullied by the idol. Her comment is in Japanese and reads:
"When I was in SM Entertainment, Joohyun unnie bullied me while Seulgi unnie protected me."
Fukuhara Mone is a well-known former SM Entertainment trainee. She trained under the company for 10 months before moving to JYP Entertainment. During her time in JYP Entertainment, Mone was the maknae of the Japanese debut team, alongside current TWICE members Sana and Momo. She ended up returning to Japan and leaving JYP Entertainment after the survival show "SIXTEEN" ended. She is currently active as a beauty YouTuber.
Previously, on October 22, Wednesday, a Chinese staff member who previously worked with Red Velvet also exposed Irene for her bad attitude. "Irene is really pretty, but she is so rude," the staff revealed. "Anyone who has worked with her knows this."
However, some of Irene's closest staff, stylists, and back-up dancers have spoken up to defend her.
Here's a rundown of Irene's attitude controversy.
On October 21, photoshoot editor Kang Kook Hwa shared a long post to her Instagram account, exposing an unnamed female idol for her rude personality. She revealed that the idol verbally attacked her, claiming that the moment she entered the room, the idol did not greet her, merely sat down, and started saying harsh words at her while pointing.
Kang Kook Hwa claimed that she had heard stories from other people concerning that idol for a while but did not know it was so bad. People had speculated it was someone from Red Velvet, as the post ended with the hashtags #psycho and #monster, two popular song titles from Red Velvet and unit, respectively.
