Choi Jae-Hyun is the latest star to join the cast of JBTC's upcoming television series "Run On," according to a press release from Choi's talent agency, Glorious Entertainment.
The 25-year-old actor (26 by Korean age reckoning) will be playing Seo Tae-Woong, a leader of an idol group and the younger brother to Seo Dan-A, played by Choi Sooyoung. Choi Jae-Hyun returns as television's lovable and irresistible "namdongsaeng" (younger brother), fresh from the hit TV series "Sweet Munchies." In the recently-concluded JBTC series, also known as "Late Night Snack Man and Woman," Jae-Hyun played Park Jin-Woo. He is the younger brother to the series' protagonist, skilled and charismatic chef Park Jin-Sung, played by Jung Il-Woo.
"Run On" follows the romance between Ki Sun-Gyeom, played by Im Si-Wan, and Oh Mi-Joo, played by Shin Se-Kyung. Sun-Gyeom was a former star sprinter for the Korean national team but had to quit the sport due to an issue. He now works as a sports agent. On the other hand, Mi-Joo does translations and writes subtitles for movies. The series follows how their fates inevitably intertwine.
In the new series, Seo Tae-Woong's older sister, Dan-A, appears to be a strong, decisive woman who is the CEO of the sports agency. As a woman in sports and business, she has to fight to get where she is now. Fans are eager to see how Choi Jae-Hyun's idol, younger brother character, will spice up the characters' interactions in this new series.
"Run On" will premiere on December 16, taking over JBTC's "Private Lives." The new series will be broadcast on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 PM KST. It was written for television by Park Min-Sook. Director Lee Jae-Hoon, who previously worked on the 2014 KBS period drama "Jeong DoJeon" and KBS2 thriller "The Ghost Detective," is attached to helm the new JBTC project.
