Hot on the heels of their successful comeback, MONSTA X adds another win to its belt with the group's first-ever Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards, last Nov. 28.
The six-piece K-pop boy group has finally bagged the elusive Daesang for Stage of the Year award from the AAA, more than six years since their journey started. With this win, MONSTA X also becomes the first artist from their talent management agency, Starship Entertainment, to receive the AAA Daesang.
Upon announcement of the winners, the members went up on stage to receive their award. Shownu humbly expressed gratitude to all who helped them - from Starship Entertainment to the hair and makeup team who took care of the members. Kihyun continued, noting the love and support from their official fanbase, MONBEBE, in helping them achieve the Daesang. IM reiterated the group's gratitude in English, adding hopes that the COVID-19 situation improves so they can meet their beloved MONBEBEs. Lastly, Jooheon shared the group's energy, hoping that their vibes reach fans beyond the screen and watching from home. All members loudly declared at the end: "We love you, MONBEBE!"
Additionally, MONSTA X released a statement through their agency, Starship Entertainment. "It's such an honor to receive the first grand prize in the sixth year of our debut.It's a great honor for us to receive this meaningful award, but we'll be grateful that this award is given by MONBEBE," the statement read. The members added: "We think our members still have a lot to grow up on, so we won't stop here and try to show you better music and performances in the future."
The members also extended gratitude to their staff members and their MONBEBE, their fans, "for being by our side and driving force though you're tired and exhausted. We will de our best to be artists that MONBEBEs can be proud of."
A Grand Performance
MONSTA X dominated the stage with their electrifying performance of "Stand Together," with the stage prepared by Jooheon - who also wrote and composed the upbeat track that tells of the group's unity and domination the music scene.
The members then raised the bar even higher as they returned to the 2020 AAA stage in black ensembles and performed their hit song "Love Killa," the lead single from their third Korean-language studio album 'Fatal Love." MONSTA X performed their second number with the same appeal and energy as they did when it won awards from two separate music shows: SBS MTV's "The Show" and MBC M's "Show Champion."
The six-piece boy group finished their 2020 AAA stage with a performance of "Fantasia," the lead single for their 2020 comeback EP "Fantasia X."
MONSTA X - Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon, IM - have recently wrapped up promotional activities for "Love Killa." As the year comes to a close, the group still has a number of appearances left with various shows. According to Starship Entertainment, the boys are already stepping up their preparation for the upcoming year-end awards ceremony.
