Rain has introduced the very first boy group of his self-established company J. Tune Entertainment. Who's ready to stan?
On Dec. 7, singer-songwriter Rain uploaded a photo of himself with the caption, "Look forward to it!!!" Many fans assumed that it could be about him and his wife, Kim Tae Hee, probably expecting another child. People's curiosity heightened when Rain made another post on Dec. 9 with the caption, "Good news... tomorrow @ noon #itsnotaboutmyfamily."
It turns out that the news is about his company debuting its first boy band called "Ciipher." Rain introduced J. Tune Entertainment's upcoming male group by uploading a photo showing the members and along with the caption that reads, "Excited to introduce RAIN Company's first boy band, #CIIPHER on today's episode of #SeasonBSeason! Don't miss out!"
CIIPHER has also launched its official Instagram account. Follow the group here!
CIIPHER is made up of seven boys who will be officially introduced through the new segment of Rain's "Season B Season" series that will be posted on his YouTube channel. The members are Sungwon, Dohwan, Choonghyun, Hyunbin, Keita, Junhyun, and Seokwon.
In April 2019, it was revealed that Keita and Dohwan have joined Rain's agency after making it to J. Tune Entertainment's final round of audition. Both of them are former trainees under YG Entertainment and were contestants in YG's survival program "YG Treasure Box." Both of them were eliminated from the show in episode 9.
Choi Seokwon was a former trainee of Starship Entertainment and was also a previous contestant of NO.MERCY, a survival show that was broadcast on Mnet in 2014-2015. Created by Starship, the program had 13 trainees who competed with each other to secure a spot in the final lineup of the label's boy group, which is now MONSTA X.
Geum Junhyun is a child actor, a kid model, and was a student in Joy Dance Academy. Moon Hyunbin also went to Joy Dance Academy. In addition, he is a former Starship trainee like Seokwon, and he previously participated in Mnet's boy group survival reality show "Produce X 101." He was removed from the show in the second elimination round.
Meanwhile, Lee Choonghyun, along with Keita and Dohwan, was a student at Def Dance School. Sungwon is a previous member of 1THE9, a boy band under PocketDol Studio that just disbanded this past August. He was the main rapper and maknae (youngest member) of the group.
Although Rain debuted the boy band, MBLAQ, under J. Tune Camp in 2009, CIIPHER will be the first male group to debut under his main label, J. Tune Entertainment. J. Tune Camp was a subsidiary of the company. When JYP Entertainment and J. Tune Entertainment merged in December 2010, J. Tune Camp was not affected as according to the latter, they are separated from Rain's company.
J. Tune Camp officially shut down in 2017 since all managers left and male act MADTOWN signed with another label. Other former artists of J. Tune Camp include girl group Two X and Pro C.
Stay tuned for more details regarding Rain's new boy group CIIPHER! Also, don't miss out on seeing the members in the new episode of Rain's "Season B Season."
