On Wednesday, Dec. 16, BLACKPINK member Jennie was selected as the latest donation fairy for "Choeaedol". Keep on reading to learn more.
Jennie was selected as the 98th donation fairy after receiving a whopping 58,928,725 votes from the idol ranking service "Choeaedol", which she earned from the enthusiastic affection from fans both in South Korea and internationally.
The passionate fans of BLACKPINK decided to celebrate Jennie's birthday early by flooding the idol with votes on the app. Though Jennie's birthday is still on Jan. 16, fans decided to celebrate Jennie's 9,100 days on this planet by making her the new donation fairy and by showering her with affectionate messages on various social media accounts. Fans informed Jennie that they love and support her, and even thanked Jennie for being born.
Recently, YG Entertainment shared a video made in partnership with the British Embassy in Seoul. In the video, Jennie is heard telling fans that climate change is a global challenge and that each and every person could make a difference if they act now. The video was dropped in advance of the upcoming Paris Agreement on Climate Change, which was held on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Jennie has been selected as a donation fairy twice so far, achieving around 1 million won in an accumulated donation. The donations, which are under Jennie's name, will be delivered to the Miral Welfare Foundation and will be used to support the disabled in finding jobs.
The total accumulated donation from "Choeaedol" is 189 million won. The accumulated donations from other idol groups and idols are 31.5 million won for Kang Daniel, 26 million won for EXO, 21.5 million won for BTS, 20.5 million won for TWICE, and 12 million won TWICE member Tzuyu.
"Choaeadol" selects who will be a donation fairy if they achieve first place in votes by determining the cumulative ranking of 30 days and if the artist achieves more than 55,555,555 votes on different time periods.
Each month, charity angels are selected for each category through a voting system, and whichever idol has the most votes will win. In exchange of them winning first place, "Choeaedol" will donate a total of 1 million won, with 500,000 won under each name of the top male and top female idol who became charity angels, to the Miral Welfare Foundation's cause of helping the disabled find jobs.
Previously, it was announced that fellow BLACKPINK member Lisa was named the 63rd Charity Angels of December. The Thai idol scored 2,981 points out of 3,000 points and became the charity angel in the individual women's category.
Lisa has maintained her spot as the top for five consecutive months and has also bagged herself four donation fairy titles. The Thai idol was reported to have donated 4.5 million won nine times, meaning she donated around 40.5 million won in total.
"Choeaedol" is an idol voting app that ranks South Korean idols and artists according to the number of votes they gain. It is also used as a tool to do good deeds with the help and support of K-pop fans worldwide.
