Gaon Chart Drops Best-Selling Albums this 2020 + Best Digital Songs: Red Velvet, SEVENTEEN, NCT, and More

Despite the pandemic, leading K-pop groups who released their much-awaited songs this 2020 were given the honors for "Best-Selling Albums" and "Best Digital Songs" including BTS, BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, NCT, SEVENTEEN, and more!

On Dec. 21, Monday, Gaon Charts unveiled their accumulated data for K-pop acts with most sold albums as well as best digital songs, and amazingly, BTS and BtoB's Zico topped the respective lists.

Gaon Chart's "Best-selling Albums" 2020

According to the accumulated data of Gaon Charts, the preeminent K-pop group BTS was announced to sold 8,823,754 albums from Jan. 1 to Dec. 12 this year.

In particular, the two albums released this year, "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" and "BE" (Deluxe Edition), sold 4,356,584 and 2,668,833 copies, respectively, ranking first and second place.

Aside from these two highest-selling albums, released this year, BTS who is a consistent million-seller charted a total of 12 albums in the Gaon Chart's Top 100, including the albums released in the previous years.

These include, "Skool Luv Affair Special Addition" (2014) at 10th place, "MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA (2019), at 44th place, "LOVE YOURSELF (Tear and Answer)" (2018) at No. 50 and No. 52, "LOVE YOURSELF HER" (2017) at 59th place, "Young Forever" and "Wings" (2016) at No.67 and No. 68 respectively, "You Never Walk Alone" (2017) at No.76 "HYYH Pt.2" (2015), and "HYYH Pt.1" (2015) ranked 87th and 100th.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN, a group which belongs to Big Hit label's Pledis Entertainment, became the first Double Million Sellers to debut with "Henggarae" who ranked third place with 1,375,863 album sales and [Semicolon]" at sixth place with 1,128,810 sold copies.

Furthermore, SM Entertainment's global group NCT charted several albums, including the recently released album of their sub-units, NCT 127 and NCT Dream.

In particular, Resonance Pt. 1 came in 4th place with 1,283,767 million copies, NCT 127's "NCT #127 Neo Zone" ranked 8th place with 832,915 copies, and Resonance Pt. 2 at 9th place with 722,746 sold copies. NCT's unit, NCT Dream ranked 11th place as well with 629,142 sold copies.

Lastly, BLACKPINK who became the first girl group to become a million-seller has sold 1,233,493 copies while Baekhyun, a member of EXO and solo singer, was the only solo artist to enter the top 10 and claimed the seventh spot with his second mini-album "Delight" which sold 972,012 copies.

Best Songs for Digital Chart Category

This year, Zico's "Any Song" won in the digital comprehensive category of "2020 Gaon Cumulative Chart" released by Gaon Chart on Dec. 21.

"Any Song" is considered the best-hit song in Zico's album filmography history, leading to the dance challenge craze, including the No. 1 ranking on the Melon Daily Chart. With this, 'Any Song' became the most beloved hit of 2020.

As for second and third places, Changmo's "Meteor" and Jo Jung Suk's "Aloha" secured the spots.

At the same time, IU's "Blueming" and "Eight" ft. BTS Suga ranked fifth place and sixth place, proving their presence in 2020 as prominent singers.

Moreover, NOEL's "Late Night," and Red Velvet's "Pyscho" ranked seventh and eighth places respectively.
