Previously, BTS was selected as the star that shined the most this year by Gallup Korea. BTS, who debuted back in 2013, has grown to become one of South Korea's leading global artists. This year, BTS released their first all-English single, "Dynamite." The song ended up debuting at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first time a Korean musical act has ever had a number one single in the United States. This was followed a few months later by "Life Goes On," which also debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, is the first predominantly Korean language song to hit number one in the United States.

BTS was graced with a Grammy Nominated at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, which is scheduled to be held next year, late January. The group was nominated for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" for "Dynamite." They were also recently selected by TIME Magazine as the "Entertainer of the Year."

AB6IX took second place, garnering 3,630 votes, or roughly 11% of the total votes cast. 2020 was quite the year for the Brand New Music group. The group released their digital extended play "5nally" on Feb. 13. The extended play was special since it contained five solo tracks, one for each member.

Back on June 8, Brand New Music announced that Youngmin would be departing the group following his DUI scandal. Originally, the company announced that he would take a hiatus, but Youngmin himself chose to leave for the sake of their group. His withdrawal from the group led to AB6IX's comeback with their second extended play, "Vivid," to be delayed from June 8 to June 29.
