Former Stray Kids member Woojin will be releasing new music as a solo artist under a new agency.
On Dec. 23, a source from 10x Entertainment stated that the agency has recently had a contract signing with singer Kim Woojin. "We will wholeheartedly support him so that he can unfold his many talents in many different fields," the label said.
The company added that they are planning to begin the production of Woojin's album for his solo debut, which they aim to accomplish next year. 10x Entertainment further stated that they have launched a podcast called "wooAlog" and video content "wooVlog" on the music platform Spotify for his upcoming content.
This past September, Woojin shared that he has found a new agency and is working hard to prepare for solo promotions. His return to the K-pop scene took more than a year since he left Stray Kids in October 2019. According to JYP Entertainment, the idol parted ways with the band due to personal circumstances, which led to his exclusive contract with the company getting terminated. Not much information was revealed about the sudden departure of Woojin, particularly the exact reason for his decision to go on a new path.
After almost a year since he left the boy band and JYP Entertainment, Woojin was accused of sexual assault by several anonymous netizens. A certain netizen posted a series of pictures along with a message written both in English and Korean. In the post, the netizen said that she and her friends were harassed by an idol, claiming he touched them without proper consent. He also mentioned his group name, trying to win favor with the girls.
After giving more details about what happened, the netizen gave a hint on who the idol was. With a "W" and a "우," which creates "Woo," and "big3" that refers to JYPE, SME, and YGE, many people thought that the involved idol was former Stray Kids member Woojin, who is part of JYPE.
Another netizen posted a similar situation in which he was also sexually assaulted by an idol who is assumed to be Woojin. The netizen claimed that the singer purchased a bottle of whiskey for her and continued talking to her. As proof, a photo showing a whiskey with a part of a hoodie as a backdrop was uploaded, with the hoodie allegedly belonging to Woojin.
