SM Entertainment will be welcoming a new year with a star-studded online concert! The company has recently announced the lineup of performing artists. Continue reading to know if your favorite artists are included.
On Dec. 28 at midnight KST, SM Entertainment has revealed the lineup for their upcoming SMTOWN LIVE 'Culture Humanity' online concert. The label first shared a teaser video that shows the artists fans can expect to be at the event, and then SM uploaded the official poster that displays the list of performers.
The online concert will feature performances by TVXQ, Super Junior, SuperM, Red Velvet, and all of NCT's sub-units: NCT Dream, NCT U, NCT 127, and WayV. EXO members Baekhyun and Kai, SHINee's Taemin, H.O.T.'s Kangta, and Girls' Generation's Taeyeon will also be attending the event.
On top of that, rookie group Aespa will also take the stage to give an outstanding performance. DJs Raiden, IMLAY, and GINJO will also be there to entertain the viewers.
SMTOWN LIVE 'Culture Humanity' will begin at 1 p.m. KST on January 1, 2021, at 8 p.m. PST on Dec. 31, 2020, and at 11 p.m. EST on Dec. 31, 2020. It will be broadcast for free around the world on Naver V LIVE's Beyond LIVE channel, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Japanese KNTV.
SM Entertainment's upcoming concert is said to be designed to bring comfort and give hope to people across the globe who are having a hard time with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, it is said to comprise a variety of music and performances that are arranged with augmented reality (AR) technology and graphic effects to provide viewers a higher quality of stages that fans from different K-pop fan clubs can enjoy while they are at home.
Moreover, the label shared that they have started the pre-recording of the SMTOWN live concert and have finished filming safely. The event is expected to receive positive responses as it features different stars that are gaining worldwide popularity.
SMTOWN is a musical collective that includes artists under South Korean entertainment agency, SM Entertainment. It features a number of singers that have different genres and concepts. SM Town first had its joint concert in 2008 through the "SM Town Live '08" Asia tour, which involved three shows that took place in Seoul, Shanghai, and Bangkok. As of 2014, the SM Town Live concert series had gained attention from more than 1 million audience members.
The last joint concert of SM Town artists was the "SM Town Live World Tour VI" from 2017 to 2018. It featured a total of 61 idols that performed in various cities such as Seoul, Osaka, Tokyo, Dubai, and many more. Apart from world tours, SMTOWN also held a project called "The Agit - Concert Series" that was conducted from 2015 to 2019 at COEX Artium in Seoul, South Korea.
SM artists also have an ongoing project called SM Station in which they will release one digital single every Friday. The project started on Feb. 3, 2016, and the most recent season is "Our Beloved BoA," which is dedicated to BoA in celebration of her 20th anniversary of debut.
