Ahead of the concert, SEVENTEEN will appear on the famous American late-night talk show, "The Late Late Show With James Corden" on Jan. 6 (local time). The group is said to perform its latest release, "HOME;RUN," the title track from their most recent special album "; [Semicolon]." It will be the band's very first appearance on the program. Other K-pop groups that have guested on the show include BTS, BLACKPINK, and NCT127.
Last year, SEVENTEEN had numerous achievements with their releases. In June 2020, the male group released its seventh extended play titled "Heng:garæ," which sold one million copies in less than one week, making SEVENTEEN official million-seller. The band also received certifications from both the Gaon and Hanteo charts.
Another milestone they attained with "Heng:garæ," was becoming the first foreign male artist in 12 years to claim the No. 1 spot on 27 iTunes Top Albums charts across the globe, breaking the previous record of the Backstreet Boys.
In October 2020, SEVENTEEN launched a special album called "; [Semicolon]." It made headlines even before it was officially released as it was reported that more than a million album copies were sold in pre-orders alone. Considering this, the boy group has earned the "double million-seller" title. Meanwhile, the special album's title track, "HOME;RUN" was chosen by TIME Magazine as one of the songs that defined K-pop in 2020.
Aside from Korean-language releases, SEVENTEEN also promoted in Japan last year with the single "Fallin' Flower" and extended play "24H." Both were well-received in the country, with the Japanese single exceeding 400,000 sales in its first week and the EP being certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) after selling more than 250,000 copies.
Moreover, the single and the EP took the No. 1 spot on the Oricon Daily Singles Chart and Oricon Weekly Album Chart, respectively. And because of "24H" topping the album chart, SEVENTEEN becomes the third act to rank No. 1 on the said chart with four consecutive albums, a milestone that was last attained in 1977 by Bay City Rollers.
