Further Details for the 35th Golden Disc Awards Announced

More details about the 35th Golden Disc Awards have been released, and it includes this year's theme and the stage setup.

The Golden Disc Awards is one of the major awards ceremonies that take place in South Korea every year to acknowledge the achievements of Korean stars in the local music industry. The event has been conducted since 1986 and 2021 marks its 35th year.

For the first time, the Golden Disc Awards will be held in an "on-tact" manner, which means without an audience, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Reports also state that all performances of Korean artists will be pre-recorded and the red carpet will instead display images taken at a photoshoot conducted beforehand.

This year, the awards ceremony's theme is "RE," which means "again." It is said that each performance will aim to provide comfort and hope to viewers who are tired of the daily life in the "new normal, giving them the strength they need to begin again.

Director Yun Jin Hee, an organizer for the GDA commented, "I hope that 2020, the year of loss, will be forgotten and we will start anew this 2021 through the Golden Disc Awards."

Apart from the theme, the stage setup for the 35th Golden Disc Awards with CURAPROX was also revealed. The stage will be inspired by "The Great Gatsby," a 1925 novel by an American writer named F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the flourishing Jazz Age on Long Island, it depicts the interactions of narrator Nick Carraway with a mysterious millionaire named Jay Gatsby, as well as Gatsby's obsession to get back with his past lover, Daisy Buchanan.

Using the novel as an inspiration, the GDA's stage will be a neon party packed with splendor and breathtaking performances, which will not only focus on K-pop but other genres as well, including trot.
