(G)I-DLE member Yuqi shocked and worried fans after posting an apology to her Weibo. According to her, she has recently been receiving negative messages through her direct messages. Keep on reading to learn more.
On Wednesday, Jan. 13, Yuqi shared an apology to Weibo, a Chinese social media platform similar to Facebook and Twitter. In her apology, she apologizes for not being able to take everyone's opinions and feelings into consideration. She ensures fans that she will be a Yuqi who will keep her word and will never change negatively.
Her whole apology reads:
"I have read everyone's comments and the direct messages that were sent to me. Thank you all for your messages. Whether it be criticisms or compliments, all of these are important to me. I will keep working hard and putting in more effort. I will do my best to take into consideration everyone's opinions. I apologize that I cannot see everyone's feelings. Please forgive me. I cannot always explain every misunderstanding, but I will never change. I will do as I say, so I hope people will be understanding."
According to Yuqi's Korean fanbase, the female idol has been receiving lots of hate from her Chinese audience. The hate allegedly started when she was placed as a permanent cast member on the Chinese variety show "Keep Running," which is often called China's "Running Man." The hate continued to escalate after she filmed a commercial in China that was originally meant to be for another Chinese actress. As it appeared Yuqi was replacing the other person, she was allegedly cursed at by numerous people.
In the past, Yuqi has often stated that she is the happiest when she is in South Korea and promoting with (G)I-DLE. While in China, Yuqi often mentions how much she misses her members, alluding to the fact that she is alone when she promotes in China. Many people expressed shock over the hate she receives, with some commenting that the hate Yuqi receives in China is more compared to Shuhua, who is from Taiwan.
Many people left comments worrying about the idol and her mental health. People had noted that Yuqi had appeared more dispirited than usual when usually she is known as the group's vitamin and energy pill. Fans asked people to not assume Yuqi will "run away" back to China once COVID-19 guidelines ease, as it appears she truly loves to promote in South Korea.
Others sent loving messages Yuqi's way, praising the idol for being sweet and kindhearted. Many people recalled a time where she read all the fans' comments for her and replied to them. During (G)I-DLE's appearance on "STATV," she ended up crying after reading fans' comments and revealed that she is an emotional person. Many hope the hate towards Yuqi will stop.
(G)I-DLE recently had their first comeback of the year with "HWAA" from their fourth mini-album "I burn." While the song received generally positive reviews from music critics, not everyone was happy. Notably, member Shuhua's Chinese fan club announced they would halt all album orders following the unfair line distribution of "HWAA."
