IOK Company, Home to B.I, Is Preparing to Launch Their First K-Pop Boy Group

IOK Company, which is home to many actors and entertainers and where the former iKON leader B.I is now its executive, is currently making preparations to debut their first boy group this year.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, IOK Company shared that they have recently established a music division and distribution branch within the agency to manage not only the activities of their currently-housed celebrities but also their global music business and new musicians. The label also shared that this marks the start of an array of new music projects this 2021.

Together with the announcement of their newly-built music division came the reveal of IOK Company's plans to debut their first boy group. On the same day, they dropped a teaser with the words, "IOK 2021." The phrase, "Heart began to pound" can be seen on the upper part of the poster. It is said that the agency is currently in the process of forming its idol group. They have recently hired professionals in a variety of fields who will assist and improve the final lineup of members.

This will be IOK Company's first venture into the music industry since the agency initially provides artist management and they are all about manufacturing and selling cosmetics and fashion products. Through their upcoming project of launching a new boy group this year, the label aims to be one of the new leading comprehensive entertainment industries in South Korea.

Jang Jin Woo, IOK Company's CEO, commented on their new move by saying, "Our first project for this new year is to take steps into the music industry. We will do our best to meet your expectations as we are receiving plenty of attention right now."

The recruitment of former iKON member B.I as an executive director in October 2020 is believed to be significantly linked to the production of IOK Company's new boy group. The male idol already has a background in the training process and lifestyle, as well as in the producing aspect since he is known to have written and produced many K-pop songs, not only those of iKON. Hence, B.I could probably take part in creating the debut songs of the upcoming team.

As for iKON, one of their most popular tracks is their 2018 song "Love Scenario," which every K-pop fandom knows. Even non-K-pop fans as well as men and women of all ages, including kids, fell in love with the single.
