The almost SEVENTEEN member and former 1Punch's Samuel Kim finally signaled his much-anticipated comeback both in the music industry and in Korea!
Singer Kim Samuel Arredondo, or prominently known as just Samuel Kim communicated with global fans through an Instagram live broadcast, on Jan. 21, Thursday afternoon.
He greeted fans with a more mature image, flaunting his manly visual complemented by his long hair. While communicating with his supporters the singer said, "Many people must have had a hard time in 2020 because of coronavirus."
He expressed empathy, revealing that he also had a hard time last year, but on the other side, it was a year that made him look back to himself and realized a lot of things.
As the broadcast continues, Samuel, who was born on January 17, 2002, thanked fans who congratulated him on becoming an adult, saying, "Oh, I've become an adult. Thank you. I don't think I'll change even if I'm an adult. I don't feel like I'm an adult yet. I think I'm just a cute adult."
Samuel Hinted His Album Release + Return to Korea
Meanwhile, during the broadcast, several K-pop enthusiasts conveyed their interest in the singer's recent status and future plans.
In particular, it's been almost three years since his last release, that's why his fans, especially Garnets (Samuel's fandom) were curious if when will be his next comeback.
In response, Samuel said, "I'm working on an album, I am recording a song. I'm also studying for myself."
He shared that he's still in the process of album-making and making it perfect. Though Samuel didn't mention a specific time frame, he affirmed fans by saying he's also looking forward to making his fans the happiest due to the good songs he's about to drop.
Currently, the American-Korean singer is living in the U.S., but regarding when he will go back to Korea, he timidly answered, "I'll tell you sooner or later."
On the other hand, throughout the broadcast, Samuel had a fun time reading fans' comments and interacting with them. The male singer even surprised the viewers when he revealed that he's been watching Korean dramas such as "Crash Landing on You," "Penthouse," and "Sweet Home" these past days.
Finally, Samuel said hello to his official fan club Garnet before concluding his live and said,
"Garnet, I know you've missed me a lot for this long time, but thank you for knowing that I am, too. Thanks to Garnet who celebrated my birthday, I'm living a happy life. Thank you so much and I love you."
Samuel's Trainee Life in Pledis, "Produce 101" and Career as an Independent Artist
At the young age of 10, Samuel initially started his journey to becoming a K-pop idol as a trainee under Pledis Entertainment.
It was reported that he is actually a soon-to-be member of the global group SEVENTEEN, but he left the agency in 2013 due to personal reasons. According to other media outlets, his mother is against him debuting as he was only 11 years old at that time.
In 2015 then, he returned to the industry through the duo, "1Punch" under the stage name "Punch." However, they immediately disbanded when member One signed under YG Entertainment.
Two years after, Samuel who has established a fandom represented Brave Entertainment in the survival show, "Produce 101" which created the group, WANNA ONE. But after starting from a high-rank, he dropped to No. 18 and was eventually eliminated.
In the same year, he decided to start his solo career, dropping his mini-album, "Sixteen" and a full-length album, "Eye Candy" in August and November, respectively.
Samuel, aside from being an incredible singer is also a talented songwriter, actor, choreographer, and dancer. In fact, he also collaborated with prominent stars such as Chung Ha, Silentó, and even won the grand champion with Zhou Zhennan for the Chinese music show, "The Collaboration" in 2018.
