Billboard has recently revealed that six new singles have debuted on this week's World Digital Song Sales chart and five of them are new K-pop songs!
Every week, Billboard updates the 25 tracks listed on their World Digital Song Sales chart to display which international songs are doing well in the United States. With K-pop becoming more popular than ever in the country, singles from the genre usually take up a good portion of the ranking. This week, a total of 14 K-pop songs made it to the list, five of which are brand new!
The highest-ranking new K-pop song for this week's chart ending on Jan. 23 is "Fav Boyz" by A.C.E featuring Thutmose, a Nigerian-American rapper. The track is also the group's collaboration with American DJ Steve Aoki. A.C.E's "Fav Boyz" debuts on Billboard at No. 4, becoming the group's highest-ranking song so far. It is also their third entry on the World Digital Song Sales chart, with the two others being their debut song "Cactus" and 2019 single "Undercover."
The next new K-pop song this week is (G)I-DLE's "HWAA," coming in at No. 8. It the band's eighth entry to land on the chart, with their highest-charting track being "HANN (Alone)" that made its way to No. 2 back in 2018.
At No. 10 this week is MONSTA X's "Nobody Else," which was released in November 2020 as part of the boy group's most recent album "Fatal Love." This is their 20th song to enter Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart, with one track - "From Zero" - debuting at No. 1 in March 2020 after almost two years since its release in November 2017.
VICTON comes next as the new K-pop act to have an entry this week. In particular, their latest song "What I Said" ranked No. 21 for its debut on the Billboard chart. This is the group's second song to make it to the list, with the first one being "Mayday," which peaked at No. 23 in June 2020.
And lastly, the fifth new K-pop song to debut on the World Digital Song Sales chart is MCND's "Crush," which claimed the No. 25 position. This is the rookie group's first-ever song to enter the ranking, so it's a huge achievement for them, considering they are still such a young group.
As for the nine other K-pop songs charting this week on Billboard, five of them are by BTS. "Life Goes On" is at No. 3 on its eighth week, "Filter" at No. 7 for its 45th week, "Euphoria" at No. 9 for its 48th week, "My Time" at No. 11 on its 45th week also, and "Mic Drop" (featuring Desiigner) is at No. 16 for its impressive 131st week.
BLACKPINK had two entries this week's chart, with "How You Like That" at No. 12 on its 28th week and "Kill This Love" at No. 15 on its 80th week. Two songs by TWICE have charted as well. "Cry For Me" ranking at No. 17 for its fourth week, and "I Can't Stop Me" at No. 18 on its twelfth week.
