YG Entertainment Unveils Which Countries Had the Most People Watching BLACKPINK's 'THE SHOW' Online Concert

BLACKPINK's management agency, YG Entertainment, has shared some new details on who was tuning in to BLACKPINK's successful online concert.

On Jan. 31, BLACKPINK held their much-anticipated online concert "THE SHOW," and fans all around the world watched the live broadcast to see them perform. Viewers are required to purchase memberships to the girl group's YouTube channel to watch.

During the event, the quartet gave high-quality performances of their hit songs, including "Kill This Love," "How You Like That," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," and "Lovesick Girls."

The members also had solo stages in which they showcased their unique talents. In particular, Rose performed her solo English-language track "GONE" for the first time and ahead of its official release alongside her solo album.

Previously, it was revealed that BLACKPINK's online concert drew around 280,000 people, including potential viewers from China. This is equivalent to five concerts at stadiums that can hold 50,000 fans. With each ticket costing about 42,000 KRW, the total amount of earnings is 11,760,000 KRW (10,510,000 USD).

Countries with the Most People Who Watched BLACKPINK's "THE SHOW" Revealed

On Feb. 4, YG Entertainment disclosed the countries that had the most people tuning in to BLACKPINK's "THE SHOW." The United States came in first place with 19.2% of the total members, proving the quartet's great popularity in the nation. The full list is as follows:

BLACKPINK's "THE SHOW" Trends Worldwide

On the day of the online concert, the hashtag "#TheShowToday" rose to the top of the rankings of real-time trends on social media worldwide with more than one million people using the hashtag. In particular, the hashtag ranked No. 1 on Twitter's global trends, and the names of the four BLACKPINK members also entered the top 10.

Additionally, Japan, which ranked fourth in the list of countries with the most virtual concertgoers, showed great interest in covering the event. It was reported through various Japanese television shows such as Nihon TV, Fuji TV, and TBS.

BLACKPINK Gains More YouTube Subscribers Because of "THE SHOW" Online Concert

BLACKPINK currently holds the title of the female act with the highest subscribers on YouTube, and the second most overall, with Justin Bieber being the first. But because of their "THE SHOW" online concert, they saw a significant spike in YouTube subscribers. Weeks after the announcement of the event, the group's official YouTube channel gained an additional 2.7 million subscribers, leading them to a current total of around 56.8 million subscribers, just a few millions away from Justin Bieber's 60.7 million subscribers.

BLACKPINK 2021 Updates So Far

In other news, BLACKPINK is one of the nominees at the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in different categories. The YG girl group is nominated in the Favorite Music Group category, and their collaboration song with Selena Gomez, "Ice Cream," is included in the Favorite Music Collaboration nominees list.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK Rose is gearing up for her solo debut. Previously, it was revealed that the singer has already completed filming the music video for her album's title track. YG Entertainment is yet to announce her debut date.
