This Korean Rapper Reveals Woollim Entertainment Asked Him to Join INFINITE but He Refused

It turns out that Woollim Entertainment's boy group, INFINITE, could have consisted of eight members instead of seven!

Some people may have heard of LXX, a South Korean rapper under 28 LABORATORY, who initially made his debut in the company's band HIGH4 under his birth name Alex. HIGH4 is best known for their hit song "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" with IU, which was released back in 2014.

In a recent video that was uploaded to Dive Studios' YouTube channel on Feb. 4, LXX shared a story of how he auditioned for Woollim Entertainment, home to INFINITE. More than 10 years ago, Woollim Entertainment scouted him when he was still living in the United States, and he used that offer as an excuse to visit Korea for the first time.

How Did LXX Audition for Woollim Entertainment?

The rapper detailed, "It was my first time in Korea. I went straight to Woollim Entertainment, and then the boss sat me down. I had a meeting. I couldn't understand half the stuff he was talking about 'cause my Korean was trash then. And he was like, 'Alright we're going to do an audition.' I'm like, 'What... are you talking about? What's happening?'"

LXX went on to share that he was brought to the basement of the company. "There's a camera. He's like 'Alright, do what you got to do.' And like, 'Can you sing?' I'm like, 'No.' he's like, 'Well can you dance?' I'm like, 'Yeah I can dance.' So then, 'Alright dance.' I'm like, 'Wait... what?' and he just turned a song and I freestyled," he said.

The rapper further stated that he was also asked if he can rap and he answered yes since he does music. Hence, he rapped one of the verses he made.

What Happened after LXX's Auditioned for Woollim Entertainment?

According to LXX, they went back up the agency and the boss showed him a contract and said, "Alright. I'm making a group called INFINITE, and I want you to be a part of it."

However, he got confused since he just landed in South Korea two hours earlier at that time and he didn't know anything about the country, but then he was immediately asked to sign a seven-year contract with them.

While he thought of saying goodbye and leaving right away after he was asked to sign the contract, LXX instead grabbed the chance to secretly walk out of the agency without saying any word when the boss went to the bathroom. As soon as he got out, he directly went to his mom's place.

The rapper then shared that he met some INFINITE members who remembered him to be supposedly part of the group. He said that he apologized to them and told them that he wasn't ready that time.

When asked if he regretted it after he walked out of Woollim Entertainment, he answered that he was not since he is more into a hip-hop type of music.

What Happened to LXX after He Rejected Woollim Entertainment's Offer?

After refusing to become a member of INFINITE in 2011, he debuted in a four-member boy band named HIGH4 under N.A.P Entertainment under his birth name, Alex.

In April 2014, the quartet released its debut single titled "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms," featuring IU. The group presumably disbanded in April 2017 due to inactivity.

In November 2020, he launched a solo track, "BLACK," under the stage name LXX and under 28 LABORATORY.
