Chungha and Rain in Talks to Team Up for New Collaboration Song

Soloists Chungha and Rain are currently in discussion for a collaboration!

On Jan. 26, Rain took to his personal Instagram account to ask fans which female dance artist he should partner up with following his successful collaboration with J.Y. Park. He also posted a comment on the community section of his YouTube channel, asking fans to recommend a female idol to collab with. Many recommended Kim Chungha, and it looks like Rain considered their suggestion.

On Feb. 5, Sports Chosun reported that Chungha and Rain are working together on a new song that will be out in March. In response to the report, Rain's management company, Sublime Artist Agency, clarified that the collaboration between the two K-pop idols is still being discussed.

In case Chungha will be confirmed to work with Rain, this will be her first collaboration after six months since her latest song "Bad Boy" with Danish singer Christopher. Meanwhile, this will be Rain's third collab with an artist.

Kim Chungha and Rain's Previous Collaborations with Other Artists

Kim Chungha already worked with eight different artists in the past years, starting with the song "Flower, Wind, and You" with Ki Hui-hyeon, Choi Yoo-jung, and Jeon Somi - the single was released back in August 2016. The female idol's most recent collaborations were last year.

In January 2020, Chungha and Paul Kim dropped a duet track titled "Loveship." Written and composed by Paul Kim, "Loveship" is an R&B song that is about realizing one's romantic feelings for a friend after being friends for a long time. In September of the same year, the female dance artist launched a collab track "Bad Boy' with Danish singer Christopher.

As for Rain, he previously worked with PSY back in 2017. The latter produced an R&B ballad for Rain's album titled "MY LIFE," which contains the lead single "GANG" and the pre-release track "Goodbye" with Jo Hyun Ah. Last year, the male idol had a collaboration with his former boss, J.Y. Park. This becomes the first time after 13 years that Rain worked with the founder of JYP Entertainment.

On Dec. 31, 2020, Rain and J.Y. Park released their duet song "Switch to Me," together with its music video. The track is a under a new jack swing genre and is composed by Park Jin Young, who also wrote the lyrics that tells the story of two men who are competing for the same woman. This new release is Rain's first official album in almost three years since his 2017 album "MY LIFE."

Kim Chungha and Rain's Upcoming 2021 Activities

Besides discussing the collaboration with Rain, Chungha is also preparing for her the release of her first full-length album titled "Querencia," in which she has already dropped her pre-release tracks "X" and "Dream of You." The album is said to consist of a total of 21 songs including "X," "Dream of You," "Stay Tonight," and "Play" featuring Changmo. It will be out on Feb. 15.

Meanwhile, Rain is currently in discussion to star in his first drama after two years since his role in MBC's "Welcome 2 Life." He recently received an offer to be part of "Ghost Doctor."
