BLACKPINK's 'THE ALBUM' Becomes Best-Selling Female Album in the U.S.
On Wednesday, Feb. 10, it was revealed that "THE ALBUM" by BLACKPINK was the best-selling female album in the United States last week. Most, if not all, fans can recall that the EP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart on Oct. 11, 2020. It also debuted at No. 2 on the Gaon Monthly Album Chart with more than 1 million copies sold, making it the best-selling album by an all-girl group in Gaon's history.
At the same time, the album was sold more than 110,000 units, which include 2,000 track-equivalent sales, 81,000 pure album sales and 26,000 stream-equivalent sales. It was even the pronounced as the highest-charting female Korean album.

If that is not enough, "THE ALBUM" also received nominations for some of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in Asia. The latest EP was nominated for Album of the Year at 2021 Golden Disc Awards, 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards and 2020 Melon Music Awards.
The carrier single of the said album titled "How You Like That" even won the Best Female Dance Award at 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards and 2020 Melon Music Awards. "The Album" by BLACKPINK won the Best Album Bonsang at the 2021 Golden Disc Awards.
BLACKPINK's 'Kill This Love' is the Fastest K-Pop MV to Surpass 1.2 Billion Views
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK reached another milestone with their trending track titled "Kill This Love." YG Entertainment announced on Tuesday, Feb. 9, that the music video of the said song already got 1.2 billion views on YouTube. It is the second music video by the South Korean all-girl group to ever make such record after "DDU-DU DDU-DU."
It was even reported that "Kill This Love" is the fastest K-Pop group music video surpass the 1.2 billion views mark. For starters, the track was released on April 5, 2019, which means that it took a year, 10 months and four days to achieve the record. "DDU-DU DDU-DU," on the other hand, took more than two years to reach the milestone.
A few days ago, "BOOMBAYAH" made another feat after its official music video garnered more than 1.1 billion views already. It was, also, announced in January that that first solo track of BLACKPINK member Jennie, which is titled "SOLO," reached more than 600 million views on the video streaming giant.
BLACKPINK's dance performance video for "How You Like That" also garnered more than 500 million views on YouTube earlier this year. The quartet also ended the year 2020 with a bang when three of their music videos broke new records in December. "Lovesick Girls" has garnered more than 300 million views at the time, "Playing With Fire" and "Whistle" also reached 600 million views at that time.
