MONSTA X, BTS & BLACKPINK Made 2020 a Historic Year For K-Pop on Music Charts
Meanwhile, Forbes credit MONSTA X, alongside BTS, BLACKPINK and Suga, for making 2020 a huge year for the K-Pop industry. The American media giant stated that many South Korean acts entered various music charts last year, including MONSTA X with their trending single called "You Can't Hold My Hear."
It was the first track by a K-Pop group to ever place on the Pop Songs chart in 2020. "You Can't Hold My Heart" by MONSTA X placed at No. 40 spot for seven days before falling off from the rankings.
After MONSTA X, BTS made their way to the top of the music charts after releasing "Dynamite," which continues to dominate several tallies up to this writing. The track sang by Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, V, Suga, and RM did so well in terms of sales, views, and streaming counts that it peaked at No. 5 on the Pop Songs chart.
BLACKPINK, then, followed MONSTA X and BTS's success with their single titled "Ice Cream," which is their first-ever collaboration with Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande, who served as one of its composers. The song made it to No. 21, which is something that Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé have never achieved before.
