Former Boyfriend member Minwoo shocked everyone when he revealed some juicy details about his life when he was still part of the South Korean boy group, which Starship Entertainment formed in 2011. The K-Pop idol shared his experiences in a new video he uploaded on YouTube, Thursday, Feb. 11.
Ex-Boyfriend Member Minwoo Opened Up about How Stressful It Is to be an Idol
Minwoo spilled some shocking details in his latest YouTube video. The former member of Boyfriend talked about his life as an idol trainee and the things he experienced before he was officially launched as part of the South Korean boy band.
In one part of the clip, Minwoo revealed that Starship Entertainment started out with only limited talents as it was still a small agency at the time. However, things started to change when some talents managed by Starship gained attention until more and more trainees joined its growing family.

Since a lot of artists were added to the roster, the competition between the talents has become more intense. Minwoo even recounted how the monthly evaluation caused him so much stress. The former Boyfriend member stated that he went through monthly tests before he was pronounced as part of the group.
Minwoo said the executives of Starship Entertainment decide who to put in a pool of talents or what concept a specific group would go for a specific time. The singer-dancer said that the artist's debut solely depends on the results of the monthly test.
This is the primary reason why everyone worked really hard at the time. Minwoo went on to say that some talents could not survive the tests and challenges given to them, so they decided to either quit or drop out. Others left after they experienced so much stress and difficulty.
The said video was uploaded on Minwoo's YouTube channel called "MINU." As of this writing, the clip already garnered more than 7,800 views, 1,200 likes, and 157 comments.
Why Boyfriend Disbanded after Eight Years?
To recall, many K-Pop fans were devastated when Starship Entertainment confirmed the disbandment of Boyfriend in May 2019. In an official statement released at the time, the agency shared that they were thankful for all the passion and hard work that Jo Kwangmin, Jo Young Min, Minwoo, Donghyun, Jeongmin, and Hyunseong showed during their journey as a K-Pop group.
While Starship Entertainment is very sad about the decision to dissolve the group, it noted that it would not forget all the moments it had with the Boyfriend members. Jo Kwangmin, Jo Young Min, Minwoo, Donghyun, Jeongmin, and Hyunseong were let go after their contract with the agency ended.
Though avid followers of Boyfriend are unlikely to see them all together in one stage, Youngmin, Kwangmin, and Minwoo surprised their fans when they announced that they would be more active on their respective YouTube Channels.
Boyfriend was known for having a powerful yet cheerful image. The group is known for its hits such as "Janus," "I'll Be There" and "Don't Touch My Girl."
