The School Bullying Accusations Against Kim Sohye

On Monday, Feb. 22, an anonymous user shared a post to an online community forum, accusing the ex-I.O.I member of being a school bully. The user noted that though they were not a direct victim to the alleged bullying of Sohye, they decided to step up and call out Sohye for her past actions.

Their whole post reads:

"I was not the victim myself. I have not written a post about this until now because I was afraid the victim would not want to reveal what happened. However, her fans were behaving so shamelessly, so I decided to share what happened.

She was standing by a bench the victim was sitting on while she was looking at her phone. She was not listening to what Kim Sohye was saying, so she became furious. She grabbed the victim's hair, forced her on her knees, and started hitting her. I was so shocked over the situation, I still vividly remember how the victim held her hands over her head in a gesture that showed she was begging for mercy from Kim Sohye, who was angry.

At the time, I did not know Kim Sohye was famous for being a reckless student and for hitting her peers, but she seemed to brag about it to other people.

Eventually, she had her vice president position taken away from her due to other problems. Fans asked why there were so many people who knew about this incident? That is because she bragged about it herself."

Kim Sohye Denies All Claims, Threatens Legal Action

As the school bullying allegations started gaining traction, Kim Sohye's agency, S&P Entertainment, released a statement denying all claims. They also announced that they would be reporting all fake rumors to the police.

Their statement reads:

"After checking with Kim Sohye, we discovered that all the allegations made are groundless. In the past, similar false rumors were spread, and we reported them to the police and received an apology from the original poster. At the time, we settled with the malicious poster. It is absurd that more accusations were made the same way it was in the past.

We are planning to report all of this to the police."

Rise in School Bullying Allegations Against Korean Celebrities

Kim Sohye is not the only South Korean celebrity to be involved in school bullying allegations this month, Feb. 2021. Most recently, (G)I-DLE member Soojin was accused of being a school bully, which both she and her agency denied. SEVENTEEN member Mingyu has also been accused of being a school bully. Past rumors of BLACKPINK member Jennie being a school bully have resurfaced due to the rise of school bullying scandal cases.

Several actors have also been accused of being school bullies, such as "Itaewon Class" and "Extracurricular" star Kim Dong Hee and "The Uncanny Counter" star Jo Byeong Gyu.
