Following allegations that the members of APRIL bullied Hyunjoo out of the group, fellow UNI.T member Yoonjo spoke up about the situation on her Instagram Story. Keep on reading to learn more about the situation.
UNI.T's Yoonjo Talks About Hyunjoo + APRIL Bullying Controversy On Instagram Story
Yoonjo and Hyunjoo both participated in the KBS survival show "THE UNIT." They both made it to the final line-up and debuted as members of the group UNI.T. Together, they promoted for 5 months in 2018 and ultimately disbanded. Despite their short time promoting together, the girls appeared to have developed a strong bond of sisterhood.
Yoonjo, a former member of UNI.T and Hello Venus, spoke up about the Hyunjoo situation after one of her followers left a question on her Instagram Story. One of her followers had said, "This is just a different story. I want you to give Hyunjoo a warm message."
In response, Yoonjo revealed that the member of the UNI.T has been talking in their group chat every day. She tells people that it has been hard for Hyunjoo and asks people to stop harassing her. She also noted that apart from the people directly involved in the situation, no one understands the pain Hyunjoo has gone through.
Her whole statement reads:
"Hmmm... There have been many people asking me about this. I did not want there to be any misunderstandings just because I did not respond... Because of that, I have decided to answer after thinking about what to say long and hard.
We have been talking about it in our UNI.T group chat, even today. I am sure that it is very hard, but I believe that she will overcome it well. So please, stop harassing her. Apart from the people present at the time, no one will fully comprehend the pain, so please do not act as if you know what happened. To those who are bothering her with unnecessary attention, please stop."
Was Hyunjoo Bullied out of APRIL? Her Brother Says She Was
On Feb. 28, a user who claims to be Hyunjoo's younger brother made a post to an online community forum stating that his sister had left the group after being harassed and bullied by the APRIL members. He revealed that his sister was bullied to the point where his sister was suffering physically, and she ultimately attempted to take her own life.
However, DSP Media firmly denied these allegations, stating that Hyunjoo really left the group to focus on her acting career and that APRIL never bullied Hyunjoo. But Hyunjoo's brother made a follow-up post refuting these claims, claiming that Hyunjoo was never an acting trainee and was persuaded to join the group despite the bullying she received from the group.
He claims that DSP Media and the APRIL members did not help Hyunjoo during her fainting spells and did not bring her to the hospitals despite her difficulty breathing. He also accuses DSP Media of now allowing his sister to take her medication, saying that it would get in the way of APRIL's promotional activities and rehearsals since the medicine made her drowsy.
DSP Media has not responded to the new claims made against the APRIL members.
