BLACKPINK's 'Lovesick Girls' Becomes First Girl Group Song to Attain This Feat in the Gaon Digital Chart Top 10

Since it was dropped on Oct. 2, BLACKPINK's song "Lovesick Girls" continuously ranks on numerous charts, including the major ones in South Korea. In particular, the single has achieved the longest record of being in the top 10 of the Gaon Digital Chart.

BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls" Enters the Gaon Digital Chart Top 10 for the Ninth Week of 2021

On March 4, Gaon Music Chart has updated its website to reveal the top K-pop songs and albums for the ninth week of 2021. Within the top 10 of the latest Gaon Digital chart, only one K-pop girl group song made it - and it is none other than BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls." The track earned a total of 14,440,175 digital points, claiming the No. 7 position on the said Gaon chart.

BLACKPINK's latest song is the highest-ranking girl group song on the Gaon Digital Chart for the ninth week of this year. It is also the third highest-charting K-pop group song on the newest Gaon chart, bested by SHINee's "Don't Call Me" at No. 3 and BTS's "Dynamite" at No. 4.

BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls" Becomes First Girl Group Song to Rank this Long in the Gaon Digital Chart Top 10

Apart from being the only female group track within the top 10, "Lovesick Girls" by Rose, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo is also the first girl group song to spend 20 weeks within the top 10 of the Gaon Digital Chart. In addition, the single becomes the first YG artist song to do so. This makes BLACKPINK the first-ever female act and the first YG artist to achieve this feat.

The other singles by the new generation of K-pop girl groups that managed to stay the longest on the Gaon chart's top 10 are BLACKPINK's "DDU-DU DDU-DU" (2018) with 16 weeks, TWICE's "Cheer Up" (2016) with 15 weeks, BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" (2020) with 13 weeks, and MAMAMOO's "HIP" (2019) with 13 weeks as well.

On top of that, BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls" is also the longest-ranking girl group song within the top 10 of the Gaon Weekly Streaming chart. It has also spent a total of 20 weeks and still counting. The song is followed by TWICE's "Cheer Up" with 18 weeks and their other track "DDU-DU DDU-DU" with 15 weeks.

BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls" Achieves Most Digital Points for an Idol Girl Group on Gaon in 2021

Furthermore, the quartet is the female act with the most digital points on the Gaon chart this year, so far. "Lovesick Girls" has cumulative points of 117,990,567 as of Feb. 27, making the group in the lead. Sitting at No. 2 is (G)I-DLE's "HWAA" with cumulative points of 86,985,282, while Oh My Girl's "Dolphin" is at No. 3 with cumulative points of 70,745,563.

When it comes to the overall K-pop group, BLACKPINK's "Lovesick Girls" is in second place. The first one is BTS's "Dynamite" with 147,443,108 cumulative points, while the third one is another BTS song, "Life Goes On," with 95,802,620 cumulative points.
