BTS's 'Dynamite' Breaks the Tie with IU's 'Eight' (Prod. & Feat. SUGA) on MelOn Top 10 + Achieves New Records on the Chart

BTS's "Dynamite" has been setting and breaking records on charts, both domestic and international, ever since it was released on various music sites on Aug. 21, 2020. And now, the song has scored another impressive record, particularly on the MelOn Top 10 chart.

MelOn Top 100 provides daily rankings of songs of different genres that have the highest unique listeners in the country on that day. On March 7, BTS's "Dynamite" has successfully entered MelOn's Top 10 once again. In particular, the 2020 hit ranked fifth with a total of 258,596 unique listeners and is also the second-highest K-pop song on the recent Melon Top 100 and MelOn Top 10, bested only by Brave Girls' "Rollin'" with 370,113 unique listeners.

What's more, this recent ranking marks BTS song's 28th week being within MelOn Top 10. "Dynamite" was previously tied with IU's "Eight" (Prod. & Feat. SUGA) with 27 weeks, and now BTS's track has surpassed the female idol's single and is officially the longest-charting 2020 song within the top 10 of the MelOn Top 100 Daily Chart.

Another new record BTS has set on the said chart is "Dynamite" becoming the first song by a K-pop group in history to spend 28 weeks inside MelOn Top 10. The track that the BTS song follows is Jang Beom June's "Your Shampoo Scent in the Flowers," which entered the top 10 for 29 weeks.

With BTS's "Dynamite" continuously ranking on the MelOn Top 100 daily chart, especially scoring the high spot, this 2020 hit could also tie up with Jang Beom June's 2019 track, and eventually takes over the top position.

BTS's Previous Records on MelOn Charts with "Dynamite"

Following its launch on Aug. 21 last year, BTS's "Dynamite" has impressively achieved several records on different MelOn charts. On the weekly rankings, the song attained the most weeks at No. 1, spending 11 weeks on the top spot. It is the longest-charting Top 5 song on the MelOn Weekly Chart as well, reaching 22 weeks.

Moreover, the BTS song has the most days at No. 1 on the MelOn Daily Chart, scoring a total of 75 days. The 2020 hit is also the longest-running No. 1 on the MelOn Monthly Chart, spending three months on the first position.

BTS's "Dynamite" is also the fourth most-liked song of all time on MelOn, receiving 386,067 likes. It is one of the four songs of the K-pop boy group with the highest number of likes, with the others being "Spring Day" (No. 1), "Boy with Luv" (No. 2), and "DNA" (No. 5).

Furthermore, the BTS song is the fastest one to hit 300,000 hearts on the music streaming platform, taking only 47 days to obtain the feat. "Dynamite" even earned the titles "Best Dance - Male" and "Song of the Year" at the 2020 Melon Music Awards, as well as ranked first for five times on MelOn's Weekly Popularity Award, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 28 last year.
